Opinions on the 40L Macpac Rift?

I am thinking of getting the Macpac Rift 40L as I was recommended a lighter and smaller pack for 1–3-night hiking trips compared to a 55L, would you guys agree, if so, is this a budget friendly and good pack please?

Has anyone used the Macpac Rift 40L? Looking for feedback on comfort, durability, and load-carrying capacity.

Hey everyone,

I’m looking at the Macpac Rift 40L for weekend hiking trips, but I couldn't find much feedback on it when searching the sub or looking for online reviews.

If you've used this pack, I'd love to get your thoughts on a few specific things:

  • Comfort: How does the harness feel under a full load? Is the back ventilation effective?
  • Weight Capacity: What’s the max weight you can comfortably carry before it starts to sag?
  • Durability: How is the fabric holding up against rough trails and scrub?

For context, I have a standard lightweight setup and am looking to use this for 2–3 day trips. Any insights or alternative budget 40L recommendations would be awesome. Thanks!

Durston Kakwa 55L Ventilation

Realistically would the Kakwa hold up ventilation wise with up to 70-80% humidity and 95 Fahrenheit temperatures? Any after markets additions that actually make a difference, or is a ventilated pack a must have in this weather?

(i'm knew to backpacking so any help would be appreciated) Thanks!
