NON-GAME RELATED

-some of you might have seen that I met Jaren on Saturday. We weren’t able to talk to him because of the huge line but he saw me and I was wearing a BC jersey and he said “hey what’s up man?” I told him “I was at your draft party” and he said “oh for real? In New York?” And I was just like “no man, in Memphis at the forum” and he was like “ohhhhhhh” and I just told him we moved here a couple years ago. He’s very nice. Tonight we got here like 30 minutes before the game started and missed almost all of the first game because it starts at 5pm. We had to park in this weird side lot I’ve never been to and as we’re walking up, a big Escalade pulls up and Jaren and his dad and some friends all get out exactly as we’re walking by. I left him alone because he had his headphones in and his friend was filming for his YouTube/vlog stuff.

-I met Taylor Hendricks mom tonight. We let people clear out after the game and as we’re walking out, I had to check something on my phone and someone comes up to me and touches me on the arm. I was wearing my BC jersey again and she had the same version but of Hendricks. We saw earlier that there a big group about 4 rows down from up where all the people were wearing different Hendricks Grizzlies jerseys so we figured they were with him. We talked for a second and I asked her if they were all part of his family and she was like “I’m his mom. That’s his girlfriend over there.” They still live here in SLC. I asked how he was doing and she was like “oh he’s good”. I told her that I was just wondering since he took a hard fall and came out last game and obviously didn’t play tonight. She said he’ll be out there tomorrow, so that’s great news.

-I was on TV trying to get the BC jersey on camera behind some Jazz kids. They didn’t get me really showing it off but I had multiple people text me about it.

GAME RELATED:

-Boozer and Peterson are the calmest guys I’ve ever seen in Summer League as rookies. They both look like 10 year vets. Peterson is just an effortless scorer and Boozer just plays and moves in all the right ways. They are both gonna be awesome. AJ is gonna have to show a lot to be ahead of them.

-I don’t know if they showed it much because I haven’t watched the DVR yet but Mashack and Small both rolled their ankles pretty bad. They eventually shook it off and both stayed in but it’s one of those things where it wouldn’t surprise me if once the adrenaline wears off that they are out tomorrow. Coward also seemed to hit his face on the floor early in the game and is was a HARD fall.

-Carson Cooper seems like a fun Two Way guy. Good depth to have.

-Zach Cleveland hasn’t been able to show much but his feel is good, he’s had a lot of assists that didn’t convey because the guy missed the shot.

-Omax is the ultimate hustle guy. I’m not sure why some people here or even in the podcasting world are acting like he’s gonna get cut. His shot is night and day different from when he was at the Mavs.

-Clayton, Lopez, and Hendricks all seemed to be moving like normal on the sidelines.

-Mashack probably won’t make the roster or even a Two Way BUT I love the way he plays. His defense on Peterson was intense in person. Peterson is just really good. Mashack also just has that Jitty like quality where he just knows how to get rebounds and a few times tonight got offensive rebounds that immediately led to a 3.

-None of the other new guys or Gleague guys really stood out.

-Coward was defintiely forcing it tonight but I think that might have been the gameplan? I don’t know. I’m not worried about it.

-The Jazz were doing a great job of making sure you felt them when they were on offense. They were hip checking and bumping guys like Small and Mashack all night. It wasn’t dirty at all but it was just physical. Small and Mashack were getting hit everytime they were trying to go around or through screens.

-The Thunder and Hawks are such worse teams in this league than the Jazz and Grizzlies.

CONCLUSION

I’m not going to the game in person tomorrow because it was gonna be tough to get there by 5pm and my wife couldn’t go anyway. I just gave the tickets to my friend and his son who are big Jazz fans since that game isn’t until 7pm here.

We’re in for a good time and a really fun season. Boozer is such a steady hand. He obviously still has things to improve but he’s the real deal. If you’re a Jazz fan reading this, Peterson is the same way. I’ve been to the SLC summer league the last few years and those guys just look different.

I’ll answer any questions if you have anything specific but I’m pretty wiped and can’t place anything else right now.

I’ve never done anything like this before. I just bought this Greco SA700W and the binding is doing what old Japanese binding does. I just want to help stabilize it as much as possible and stop the chipping areas from chipping more. Looks wise, I don’t care. It’s a 50 year old guitar so it’s gonna have some stuff like this.

Is it as simple as masking and then using the thin CA glue (Zap A Gap Thin, pink label). I’m not opposed to actually try the old binding/slurry trick down the road as some point but I just want to help stop the cracking and chipping as much as I can. Is it ok to do it on the fretboard binding as well? It will need a refret at some point but that’s way down the line for me.

Also, the last picture where the pickguard attaches, is pretty stripped and that makes the pickguard a little floppy. Not the end of the world but I’m open to suggestions here too.

This is by far the oldest guitar I’ve ever tried to work on so I want to make sure I’m not missing something. It’s great and is only 5lbs 10oz. I’ve had to sell all my other 335 style guitars over the years because they were too heavy with the huge center blocks.

RIP to what could have been

The Nike logo is weird and the NBA logo on the back is just an iron on sticker they just did a big rectangle cut around BUT it was only $21 including shipping so I can’t complain. The jersey itself feels good and the name and numbers look legit. Most people would never know unless they really stare at the logos.

I ordered it a day or two after he passed and it showed up this past week so it takes a while. I might wear it to the SLC summer league or I might just hang it on the wall as a tribute. The DHgate jerseys are pretty hit or miss from what I’ve seen and there were barely any stores that had Grizzlies designs unless it was Ja Morant. I finally found one specific store that had most of the roster and I don’t have one of these style jerseys so I figured I’d try it out.

It’s insane and 0-100mph at all times. It’s the most athletic movie I’ve ever seen and the choreography for the fight scenes is the best I’ve ever seen. I think they should win the Oscar now that we have a stunts nomination. Everything just was so fun. It’s like if Jackie Chan in his prime made a modern, R rated, ultra violent version of Taken. My wife was physically nauseous for the last 20 minutes or so, which I’ve never seen her do before but the last half hour or so just ramps everything up even more. It’s incredible. She still even gave it a 4/5 even though she doesn’t like this style of movies and felt sick watching it. It was a 5/5 for me. It’s 100% worth going to see in theaters if you have that option.

I might go see it again if any of my friends want to go. I loved it.
