64 Days of Decaf

A few days ago, I was in the car and started enjoying music, like really enjoying music and wanting to start dancing. It has been weeks or maybe months since I have enjoyed listening to music. It felt like a bit of that spark was back. This moment brought back hope that things will get better, that I can have those moments of feeling present again, even if they come back in those small moments.

My Libido is Gone

My IUD expires in December, and I've noticed that my libido is basically nonexistent. I think it always has been low with the IUD but maybe got worse due to stopping caffeine and IUD being close to expiring. Anyone have a similar experience?

58 Day Decaf Update

I have 33 days left to complete the full 90 days, which was my initial challenge. I will say, after being told by a doctor that she recommended I take caffeine for my blood pressure, I really found myself wanting to, like, slide on it. I ordered a supplement for focus, and it does have green tea caffeine in it. I haven't taken it.

After having a conversation with friends who were just really supportive of me continuing, I've decided to hold out longer, especially since this started as a religious promise, or a spiritual promise, that I made to better myself and to go without something that I've been really dependent on.

I have really tried to grow and challenge myself throughout this process while also kind of facing my own stuff, or the parts of me that are hurting.

So, with 33 days left, I know yesterday was kind of a three-decaf-coffee day, which I know is kind of cheating. But I'm glad I didn't go back to a full cup of regular coffee.

I'm hoping to try to do my best and work through the brain fog so that it doesn't affect me at work, and to help myself get motivated to continue doing things. So, I'm going to hold off on those expensive focus supplements for now and continue to give this a go.

Doctor recommended Caffeine

Hi everyone,

I went to the doctor today because I've been dealing with a lot of fatigue, brain fog, and low energy. I wanted to figure out what might be going on, especially since I'm about to start a new job and want to feel my best. My blood pressure was 88/62, which my doctor said is quite low. She recommended increasing my salt intake (including salt capsules) and staying well hydrated. She also recommended taking caffeine to help raise my blood pressure. The thing is that I stopped caffeine because it was making my anxiety much worse. I'm trying to process the recommendation because I really don't want to go back to feeling anxious, but I also want to address the fatigue and low blood pressure.

Has anyone else dealt with chronically low blood pressure? Were you able to improve it without caffeine? I'd love to hear what helped you.

Kyleena Expires in December- Anyone else have low libido?

Did anyone else have low libido closer to expiration of IUD? I'm thinking of getting it taken out earlier.

Day 39 of Decaf Reflection

Today marks day 39 without caffeine, and it's made me reflect on something bigger than just my own experience. Stepping away from caffeine has made me realize how dependent so many of us have become on substances to feel "normal" or to get through the day. Whether it's caffeine, alcohol, cannabis, or something else, it seems like so much of our society relies on external things to regulate energy, mood, or stress. It has even brought me to think about how birth control affects hormones and the impact that can have on a person's wellbeing.

Day 38 of Decaf

Hey everyone! I am almost on day 40 of decaf. My anxiety has definitely lowered, but in going decaf I've noticed mild depressive symptoms. This is especially uncomfortable when I've been used to feeling anxious, not depressed. Luckily with the passing days, I have felt it's gotten better. Has anyone else experienced this?

Kyleena Removal after 5 years

Has anyone noticed changes after getting their Kyleena IUD removed?

I've had my Kyleena for almost 5 years, and I'm planning to have it removed soon. One of the main reasons is that I've been dealing with a lot of bloating, and I've also had a pretty low libido. I'm not even sure if the low libido is related to the IUD, but I'm curious if anyone else has experienced something similar.

If you had Kyleena (or another hormonal IUD), did you notice any changes after removal? How long did it take for your body to adjust?

I'd also love to hear if there were any unexpected symptoms after removal or anything that helped support your body during the transition (supplements, diet, exercise, etc.).

Just looking to hear others' experiences while I prepare for mine. Thanks!

Day 32 of Decaf

I've hit my first big milestone. When I first embarked on this goal, I just wanted to do 90 days of decaf. I've officially done a little over 30 days of decaf. Past me would have never thought it fathomable. I took an addictions class in college and had to give up caffeine for the semester. Safe to say I couldn't make it three days. I still have decaf coffee and milk chocolate now (I do find myself craving it more than before), but I find that it's a much lower amount of caffeine compared to a latte. And where I am now, I'm okay with that small amount. The fatigue and brain fog has gotten a bit better. Anxiety has definitely gone down. Sleep is much deeper and I have vivid dreams. There are times when I find myself missing it, but I am prouder of making it this far and not having my day or mood be driven by caffeine.

Preparing myself for my IUD to expire

Hi everyone!

I've had the Kyleena IUD for almost 5 years, and it's due to expire in October. I'm starting to mentally prepare for having it removed, and I'm curious about other people's experiences.

Overall, it's been effective as birth control, but over the years I've wondered if some of the symptoms I've been dealing with could be related to it. The biggest ones for me have been:

  • Persistent bloating (I often feel puffy even when I'm eating well and exercising).
  • Lower libido than I remember having before getting the IUD.

I'm also a little nervous about the hormonal transition after removal and how my body will respond. I know everyone is different, but I'm wondering what to realistically expect.

For anyone who's had Kyleena removed:

  • Did you notice any changes in bloating or libido?
  • How did your mood, skin, energy, or menstrual cycle change afterward?
  • How long did it take for your body to adjust?
  • Did you do anything that helped support your body during the transition (diet, exercise, supplements, etc.)?
  • Were there any supplements you felt made a noticeable difference?

I'd love to hear both positive and negative experiences. I know everyone's experience is different, and I'm just trying to set realistic expectations and prepare myself before October. Thanks in advance!
