I cannot believe this is a job I get paid for

I work at a school and had the most insane experience yesterday with a student. The venerability we get the privilege of experiencing is the best gift this world can offer me. I am so grateful for this career. I literally cannot believe I get paid for this. When I was a teen/child/college student, I never imagined a career like this would be possible for me as someone who struggled so much. It brings me so much joy. I often feel like my entire life informs me as a therapist and I take that very seriously(no I am not sharing about my life, but it allows me hold space in big ways).

I got in my car and cried happy tears, and then cried again on the way to work this morning. Pure happiness and gratitude.

Not everyday is a great as yesterday was, but honestly I feel like even the bad days feel like a set up for moments like those.

That’s it. That’s the post. I love my life.

Thoughts on my work out structure

Have been strength training for about a year and half, but recently took a Barry’s class and realized I’m really missing that cardio aspect.

My overall goal is to be athletic. I’ve always been a slow runner, and would like to get faster and improve my cardio vascular health. Currently, I work out 5 days a week. 2-3 days are usually longer two hour work out and then 2 are shorter. Sometimes I workout 6 days a week sometimes 4, you all know how it goes.

All my work outs are usually full body but will have like a glute focus or back focus or arm focus ect.

They are structured like this
4-6 strength training
2-3 mobility workouts (only on long days)
Athletic circuit ( 4-5 movements repeated)
Cardio (only on long days)
Core

Here’s an example of what I did today:
Strength
Walking Lunges – 4×10/leg
Seated Cable Rows – 4×10
DB Bench (25s) – 3×8–10
Single-Arm DB Bench – 2×8/arm
Lat Pulldowns – 3×10
Tricep Pushdowns – 3×12
Lateral Raises – 3×12–15
Athletic Skill
Turkish Get-Ups – 3 reps/side
Bottoms-Up KB Holds – 20–30 sec/arm
Around-the-World Pass – 10 each direction
Athletic Circuit (5 Rounds)
🛎️ 15 KB Swings (30 lb)
🐦 8 Bird Dog Rows/side
🚴 1 min Bike (hard)
💥 8 Burpees (12 on last round if feeling good)
🏋️ 20 Overhead Marches (10/arm)
Conditioning
🏃 Treadmill Intervals: 16:16 • 1.63 mi @ 6.0 mph
With 5 30 second breaks
🚴 Elliptical: 15:00 • 1.35 mi
Core (3 Rounds)
🪲 Weighted Dead Bugs – 10/side (12 lb)
🪵 Weighted Woodchoppers – 12/side (12 lb)
🌊 Side Plank – 30 sec/side

I only one speed. I see people saying liek easy or fast days, but like basically I am either running or I’m walking lol. I’m really trying to get a 10 minute mile(short term goal) and one day an 8 minute mile!

Please tell me your thoughts.
Chat gbt makes my work outs this the emojis lol.
I also don’t do crazy heavy weights.

Anyone else really struggle to practice what they preach

Was my and partners anniversary and I did the classic “I’m fine staying in”, and then had an attitude when there was no major grand gesture. Anyone from the outside looking in would be like goddd she needs therapy. I am in therapy and a therapist though 😂 currently fighting a major shame and identity spiral. Always just feel like I should be better. Anyone else relate?

I hate my sister for finding a better boyfriend then me

My stupid sister 27f is somehow dating the hottest guy ever. He does everything in the world for her. He’s coming into an a huge inheritance and will be super rich and she is going to be finically free. Getting a man is the most important accomplishment, and I deserve it more than she does because I’m prettier than her. She has always gotten more attention for her sweet personality I don’t get why people don’t see my sexy face and body and forget my shitty envious personality. Now, she is going to be happy the rest of her life and the thought of that is making me miserable. Advice on how I can steal him for my self? Or how I can find a man like this despite being insufferable and only mildly attractive? I already offered him my body but he said no. What next?

Food: egg plant, cottage cheese and pizza sause(I promise it’s good)

Aetna reimbursement rates

For anyone feeling single out by the Aetna rates adjustments, it’s happening across the board.

My dermatologist friend just reported her group is dropping Aetna in July because they couldn’t come to agreements in recent negation. They were trying to drop reimbursement rates 30% as well.

I’ve seen a lot of sentiments stating doctors would be expected to take a 30% pay cut a whim, and just want to create some camaraderie around the fact that it is not just us!

Scary times, but hard conversations are being had with patients across the board, no just in therapy settings.

Doesn’t make anything better, but is a good reminder that we aren’t being targeted or undervalued for what we do, it’s all providers.

Weird moment with a friend as a therapist

I was having a hard conversation with my friend about her personal life. I basically just defaulted to using OARS. She told me sometimes she feels like I am just practicing or using my therapy skills on her and that it’s been going on a while. I told her I was sorry and she said she doesn’t mind and thinks it’s helpful. But now I am questioning things here. I don’t really remember how to be supportive of people outside of therapeutic framework. That being said, I also feel like OARS is very conversational and kind of no harm no foul. Please let me know your thoughts 😂

For my internship, I am working in a high school counseling enriched classroom. I will have my own space which is pretty large and will be there four days a week with not many other people using the room. My supervisor advised that I should redecorate the room as right now it basically just looks like a class room. How much of my own $ should I spend on this?

My mom’s friend is getting rid of this chair and I think it could be a great fit but don’t know where to put it before the school year starts in August. She advised going to a thrift store and Facebook marketplace.

I do my self continuing to work there following the internship but trying to gadge a budget and what’s expected of me here.
We discussed specifically getting an area rug, lighting and some comfy chairs for students.

I love interior design and agree I want the place to be nice so if anyone has any advise please let me know! ❤️

I can also get her to text me a photo of the current room if that would be helpful. It’s kind of an odd shape.
