Secure boot and Arch?

The Arch installation guide mentions disabling Secure Boot. I recently learnt that Secure Boot can work with Arch.

My questions are: does this make sense?

Should I keep it enabled after all (is it risky if not)?

Is there a risk that, following an update, Secure Boot will reject my kernel or boot loader?

Did you enable SB?

Unrunned Flatpak is able to infect System?

Story: I was installing packages in bulk using GNOME Software. I accidentally downloaded an unverified Flatpak, thinking it was a different one... Of course, the first thing I did after installing it was to uninstall it right away.

As far as I know, Android prevents installed apps from automatically launching and, by extension, from causing an infection without being launched.

There isn't much about this in the posts, and I'd like to make sure...

Fdroid's "Source code" reliability

I've always used “source code” in “links” to check the application's code. While checking Fennec's code, I noticed that it takes me to a page with the Firefox build for Android. From posts on Reddit, I saw that the patches and the rest of the code are installed from GitLab.

If the app doesn’t have to specify the exact source, how can I be sure that, for example, a malicious developer won’t install an infected fork and pass it off as a safe app?

I used qbittorrent without VPN

I needed arch iso so I downloaded from official site. I forgot to run VPN and in around 10 minutes i downloaded ISO... I used qbittorrent only to this and didn't run them anymore

I checked SHA256 - they are the same

What should i check next? When VPN is necessary and when not?

I'm sorry i have just paranoia about safety, and i doubt that something happened... And I'm sorry if this question is stupid

PDF files exploits vs Linux

Doesn't the title say it all?

I know that .pdf files are spreaded around on the internet and they might contain malware in javascripts or execute chained files...

My questions are:

- that can run with linux enviroment (i mean chmod and permission executation)?

- how is a chance of this (Windows is still mainted for malware)?

- Zathura and Web Browsers - how they safe?

thanks

IZarc is now safe?

I used Izarc for a long time (My teacher recommended that) since 2022 on my PC. I didn't seen unexpected (ads, pup, and other this kind). Lately, I've been looking into posts about this program, and they often mention bloatware, potential troyans and etc. My antivirus nothing detected since long time and here is virustotal scan.

Is now Izarc unsafe?

Edit: I downloaded from https://www.izarc.org/

Boot Secure - Virus Probability

Background: A long time ago (over 3 years ago), I tested many different antivirus programs (AVG, Avast, Trojan Remover, etc.). One day, before my laptop (HP Pavilion 15) booted up, a black screen appeared that looked like it was booting from an Arch Linux LiveUSB—I mean the blue list of processes on the left and the progress bar in the lower-right corner, no logos (I don’t have any screenshots, so I hope I’ve managed to explain this clearly). Now that I’ve learned about “bootkits,” I’m wondering if this could have been caused by:

- system statistics (built into the HP Pavilion)

- a malware attack

- the first time I ran an antivirus program

P.S. This was a long time ago, so thanks to that, my credit card information wasn’t stolen, my password didn’t leak, and (most likely) I don’t have a cryptocurrency miner on my system either. Additionally, I wiped all the partitions on my computer and started over from scratch. Secure Boot for UEFI was enabled at the time of this incident—more than two years later, I was forced to disable it.

Why am I asking about this now: There isn’t much information out there about bootkits… I’m wondering if they’re still harmful and whether it’s possible for the malware to remain in the system the entire time and it can now?

What are your thoughts?

Edit: Malwarebytes Scan nothing detects (free version), Bitdefender (payment)) and classic windows defender also

I used micro to my saving my secrets data and now i see - micro can make backups! Fortunely i did't saw my "secret data files" in here. I wonder when micro make backups (after crash, in random time, when i open one file twice) and which text editor would be the best for fragile data?

I mean micro as "Modern and intuitive terminal-based text editor"
