Mark of the Ninja appreciation

Just wanted to appreciate this game, i never thought a 2D game would get me immersed like this.

It has everything a stealth game should have, since I just knew about it I guess many don’t know that it exists too and I wanted to make this post to recommend it to everyone who hasn’t played it.

Its a truly amazing stealth game

Stealth and fast paced combined in one

Usually stealth games are slow, the gameplay loop is mostly crouch slowly behind an enemy and wait for the right opportunity to make an attack and when a player makes a mistake he gets caught instantly and is forced to repeat everything all ove again.

Although many players may like this type of gameplay loop in the other hand it also slows the game down and creates frustration which makes alot of players to not get into stealth.

There are some few stealth games that implemented both stealth and fast paced gameplay such as dishonored 2 aragami 2 and some others but now im going to mention only these two to focus on

I think that stealth and fast paced gameplay can be combined and implemented, if done right we can create a stealth game in which the player has the freedom to move around and use speed combined with stealth

The core design ideas to build around

Stealth definition ( taken from google ) - Stealth refers to the act of moving or behaving in a quiet, secret, and clever manner to avoid being noticed.

If we can really understand what stealth is and how can we create tension to the player and combine it with fast paced gameplay so it is still tactical, something special can be created to innovate on the stealth genre.

Tell me what you think

I have a cat and she’s very aggressive

The cat is 1.5 years old grey cat, dont know what breed exactly but she looks like a lion this may help you know.

My friend asked me to look out on his caught for a week or 2, I accepted and said to myself why not since im living alone right now and i wanted to experience having a cat pet a while ago and thought i would create a good bond between us.

The cat has been acting very weird and aggressive towards me, she hisses whenever i try to pet her and always goes into a specific hiding position/ angle to look or pret at me.

It seems like she is preparing a plan to attack me and i dont feel comfortable because i can feel it. I got everything set up for her, food, water, bathroom, a place to sleep and move around.

She even took one of her food today from the bag whilst i was out and ripped it out and ate it.

I haven’t been pressuring her or forcing interaction, she also knows where the door to exit and meows there asking for help or to get out.

I feel like she has alot of plans to attack set, i can feel it and im not feeling comfortable around her, she is a very BIG CAT.

Just for your info a day before she comes i had another cat but shes gone now, i have heared that some cats dont like other pets to be here as well, she goes and smells everything.

I am trying to be nice, im trying to give her the space and everything but i dont know, now its becoming a nightmare, im literally in my bedroom right now hearing her move and eat.

If anyone has anything that could help me break the barrier between us, i would appreciate it.

New ideas for stealth games

What new ideas you think that will change how stealth games are played ?

From your experience playing stealth games, talk about any unique ideas that you would like to see.

Usually in stealth games the format is simple, the player is put in an area to complete a certain objective, most commonly by eliminating guards although other approaches can also be available depending on the game and the players choice of approach.

The player can use abilities, gadgets the environment to help with his approach.

The gameplay loop is simple infiltrate, plan your approach and kill.

If we can change and innovate in this loop, how would you choose it to be.

How can we make planning more strategic ?

How can we make kills more interesting, putting skill and has a risk of failure rather than just a one kill button ?

How can we have a new way of hiding rather than just the typical light/dark or sound/light ?

How can we make traversal around the map meaningful ?

I would really like to know your thoughts.
