Should I buy a laptop in my first year at university ?

I am selected for engineering and I wanted to know whether I should buy a laptop now or just wait till the 2nd year where they let us choose our degree.

# Right now I have a 4gb ram Dell inspiron 15 3000 from 2020. Will it be enough for the typical first year engineering tasks .

# Or should I buy a new laptop now before the prices increase again . If so what are the recommended specs that are budget friendly and will last me for the whole 4 years.

Right now I plan to do either computer science or electronics .

I need a laptop that's not too expensive for my university work. I'm planning on doing electronics and telecommunications for my engineering degree. Will a 16 gb ram loq be enough or should I try for a 32 gb Legion.

I would like some recommendations for a mid range less expensive laptop. My families economic situation in sri Lanka isn't that great.

I got my AL results recently and I'm qualified enough for ruhuna engineering. Yet I have this fear that I will be way behind in the job market ( both in pay and opportunities ) compared to a moratuwa graduate.

I also heard moratuwa students are able to go abroad for their mandatory internship. Does ruhuna have the same opportunity?

Does your universities reputation really matters that much ?

Hence should try for a 2nd shy in hopes of getting into moratuwa ?

I'll highly appreciate the experiences of ruhuna & moratuwa graduates in the industry
