Which of these movies genuinely deserved to be among the highest-grossing Malayalam films, and which ones do you think are overrated in terms of box-office performance?

Not asking about whether they're good or bad movies. Just looking at the box-office position vs the actual hype, audience reception and overall impact.

For me, some feel like obvious deserving blockbusters, while a few feel like they benefited heavily from hype, franchise value or favourable circumstances.

Which ones would you remove from this Top 10, and which movies do you think deserved to be there instead?

I honestly feel 2027 could be a major turning point for ODIs. T20 cricket keeps growing, bilateral ODI series are becoming less relevant, and players increasingly prioritise franchise cricket.

The 2027 World Cup could still be huge, especially because it may mark the final World Cup era for several superstars. Players like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja have already moved towards the final stages of their international careers, and many other legends from different teams could also be gone by then.

But what happens after that?

Does ODI cricket have a long-term future after 2027, or are we entering the final chapter of 50-over cricket?

Honestly, introducing penalties in Super League Kerala league-stage games was a great move. It adds another layer of excitement to matches, especially when games are tight or end in a draw.

Indian-origin Flydubai captain has emerged as the pilot at the centre of the dramatic FZ1073 incident, after fighting back despite being stabbed during a cockpit confrontation. Captain Smit Machchhar's intervention, along with the actions of passengers and crew, helped prevent the Dubai-Tel Aviv flight from crashing and ensured the safe landing of around 180 people in Saudi Arabia. Machchhar, an experienced aviator and former SpiceJet captain, was injured in the incident and taken to hospital after the aircraft landed.

Kochi Cyber Crime Police have registered an FIR following a complaint by Aparna Kurup, Senior Coordinating Editor at Big TV, alleging cyberattacks and death threats against her. Abdullah Basil, an office-bearer of the Wisdom organisation, has been named as the first accused. Police have invoked provisions of the BNS and IT Act relating to criminal intimidation, promoting enmity and incitement to public disorder.

The case reportedly stems from a Big TV news segment that was later retracted with a formal apology. The channel alleges that the controversy was subsequently used by certain groups to create communal tension and target the journalist personally. Cyber Police are investigating the origin of the threats, examining social-media posts and identifying others who created or circulated the alleged abusive content.

The tragic death by suicide of 25-year-old Anagha after her wedding was called off.

Anagha and her fiancé, Vishnu, reportedly met through Instagram and had been in a relationship. Both families had approved their marriage, which was scheduled for November.

According to Anagha’s family, Vishnu and his mother may have played a role in her death. They allege that Anagha sent Vishnu a video showing her attempting to end her life, but instead of immediately alerting her family or seeking help, he shared the video with his mother.

The family has also handed over an audio recording to the police, which they believe was sent by Vishnu’s mother to Anagha. According to the family, the audio appears to dismiss Anagha’s actions as merely “acting” or a performance. They believe this response may have further distressed her and contributed to the tragedy.

The Aroor police have currently registered a case of unnatural death, while the investigation remains in its preliminary stages. Police have stated that further action against Vishnu and his mother will depend on the evidence gathered during the investigation. Meanwhile, Anagha’s family is demanding that a formal case be registered against them.

Kerala has millions of passionate cricket fans, yet the stadiums often look far less crowded than expected. Compare that with the atmosphere created by football in Kerala, and the difference is huge.

From childhood, I’ve had a genuine doubt about the story of Vamana and Mahabali.

As the story goes, Vamana asked Mahabali for three paces of land. After Mahabali agreed, Vamana assumed his cosmic form .

His first step covered the Earth, and his second step covered the sky/heavens. Then Vamana asked where he could place his third step. Mahabali, having no land left to offer, offered his own head for the third step.

But this is where I’ve always had a question

If the first step had already covered the entire Earth and the second step had covered the sky/heavens, where exactly was Mahabali standing when Vamana took his third step on his head?

Was Mahabali standing somewhere outside the Earth and the heavens?

In the traditional story, Mahabali is described as a powerful and virtuous Asura king, but the familiar modern visual of him as a round, pot-bellied, cheerful old man is largely a cultural/artistic representation rather than a precise depiction of his physical build in the original texts.

A warrior being overweight isn't inherently impossible. Historical warriors could have been large or muscular, and body size doesn't determine combat ability. But if the intention is to portray Mahabali specifically as a great warrior and ruler, a heavily obese, comic-looking depiction can certainly feel inconsistent with that characterization.
