The inauguration of Export-Import (EXIM) cargo services at Vizhinjam International Port on August 18 marks a major milestone in Kerala’s development. Vizhinjam is also being envisioned as a major gateway for the wider South Indian region, with the potential to attract industrial and private investment and help transform Kerala into a major port-driven economic hub.

Development is progressing rapidly, with the second phase already underway and future facilities, including bunkering, planned by 2028. If successfully implemented, Vizhinjam could create tens of thousands of employment opportunities and become a major engine of Kerala’s economic growth.

The farmer was accused of sexually exploiting his own daughter under the POCSO Act .

According to the father, his daughter and her boyfriend filed the false complaint because he had questioned her about frequent, secret phone calls and bringing a friend from college home . Even though the family pleaded that he was innocent, the police arrested him, and he remained in custody without bail for over a year .

The father has been released and is back with his family, though the daughter reportedly remains with her boyfriend.
