Painting from my family bought in the 1950s

Painting from my family bought in the 1950s

I’m trying to learn who made this painting and what it is called. It was purchased in the early 1950s and has faded quite a bit. Hung in grandmas house for 60 years. I can’t find the name online - anyone know who the painter could be and what this is called? I would love to learn more about it. Sorry, I didn’t take a photo of the back. It had a few numbers written out in marker. Thank you.

Work dinner outfit help - new, WFH

I am remote and newer to my job (corporate, midlevel, tech industry), and we have an offsite coming up. They told us casual dress is fine, but I feel like that is a trap. Maybe guys can get away with that, but I don’t want to be too casual. There is a welcome dinner and that is what I am struggling with.

I can wear the standard dress pants/blazer/blouse for meetings the other days, but I’m not sure what to do for the welcome dinner the first night when everyone arrives.

What would you wear? Are dark wash jeans a bad idea? Is a dress a bad idea? Would I look dumb if I am too dressed up?

I don’t have a ton of clothes to work with but any advice is appreciated.

I saw “reach out to your alderman” suggested as a way to help make your building management more responsive.

Has anyone tried this? Did it work?

Long story short I’m dealing with harassment from my neighbor over everyday living noises (walking, closet doors, etc.)

Management is not helping me, talked to the neighbor once but the problems are back. Basically told me good luck and to call the cops, but the cops say talk to management.

Thank you

I’m a quiet person. No parties, I don’t blast music. But the everyday sounds of daily life are setting off my neighbor.

I walk, open a closet door, drop my AirPods, things like that. My neighbor aggressively bangs on their ceiling/my wood floor.

It is incredibly loud, aggressive, bone rattling. Instant response. I can feel it. It scares me. I’m afraid to walk around or put clothes away at night. I’m scared to accidentally drop something. Hyper vigilant.

The banging happens at all times, weekend afternoon. Weeknights. To make matters worse, I don’t know who this person is.

I complained to my management company. They told the neighbor to stop. They also pretty much told me, good luck! Call the cops if you feel unsafe.

I really didn’t want to get to that point, but after a few months the banging returned and that’s what I did.

Cops came, neighbor did not answer. Cops could do nothing. They told me to talk to my building management again. I submitted a second complaint. No response.

I’m afraid this person is unstable due to their unreasonable responses to every day noises.

What should I do? I don’t want to move because I’m in a HCOL city and like my apartment.

My therapist says she has a record of distress for a restraining order, but I don’t know much about that. Or how that would help me.

Cops can’t really do much, at least right now, and management is unresponsive.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Also, I have an incident log where I am keeping track of this and I have a few recordings of the banging noises that I happened to catch on my cameras.
