After an dissapointing first half + start of the second half of the season under Amorim, I thought there would be another season without UCL football. But surprisingly, after Michael Carrick came in to the club, he’s done really well, transformed the team and lead us to a 3rd place finish in the PL. Still can’t believe that. After watching majority of the games last season, I think I can share a quite bit of insight of the squad, as of right now.
Senne Lammens (5.0m) - I think he is a very viable and a pretty safe pick for the starting keeper for your FPL team this season. We have great fixtures for the start of the season and he is very, very composed and calm, also doesn’t make much mistakes, surprisingly the only error he’s made for us is vs. The scousers at Old Trafford, unlike the guy who should not be named, that is playing for a certain turkish club right now…
Overall, I think he is a very good option and you should definitely think about making him your starting keeper in your team.
Karl Darlow (4.5m) - He was signed up from Leeds this window, as our backup keeper. As much as I think he was a very good keeper for Leeds last season, He won’t ever start in the PL unless Lammens gets injured. It would not be a good pick at all and especially looking at a huge price point like 4.5, it’s safe to say it’s better to go elsewhere, to keepers like kinsky and verbruggen.
Before I start, I want to say, we have so much injury-prone defenders for our defense and after UCL football and all that busy schedule you might see us start with yoro and heaven at the back. Obviously, it doesn’t matter right now as the season hasn’t officially started yet but I’m just throwing this in to let you know. I’ve not included de ligt and Martinez in this as they are both injured and haven’t featured in any pre-season games.
Diogo Dalot (5.0m) - Is he a decent RB? Yes. But Is he considerable for a good FPL asset for 5m? No, absolutely not. Last season, he was decent all round but there isn’t anything special about him that I’d make him an asset. Not much of a goal threat, okay of a chance maker sometimes, not much of an defcon provider, so he’s not an asset that will provide much points. There are much better defender for 4.5-5.0 that offers way much than Dalot.
Noussair Mazraoui (4.5m) - Mazraoui won’t be getting much game time this season, unless Dalot is completely out of form or is injured. Yes, he could be great when he does play but he is not going to be an asset for gametime. This might change as UCL starts but for many factors, he is not a good asset for FPL at all.
Lord Harry Maguire (5.0m) - He is definitely a one to be looking at, especially after the fixtures we have at the start of the season. He will likely start the season as the main CB, unless he ends up getting injured. Yes, he is 33 years old but, there are some good pathways he can get points. He could provide defcon, good at the air so sometimes can provide good header goals + attacking returns as well. Overall, I think he would be a very good pick at the start of the season.
Leny Yoro (5.0m) - He could potentially start as our starting CB at the start at the season but after last season, I wouldn’t be surprised if Heaven were to start over him, this season. Last season, after conceding that penalty vs. palace he mentally looked very bad. Also, isn’t much a great asset as well, because there isn’t guranteeed game time and also just doesn’t have many pathways to get some decent points for a 5.0m defender.
Ayden Heaven (4.5m) - He is very promising and composed of the ball and he could easily start of the season at the starter if he keeps impressing pre-season. Last season, when we had injuries at our CB department, he came in and played very, very good. However though, not much of a good FPL asset yet, I’d say because he doesn’t have guaranteed minutes as of right now and will be too risky.
Luke Shaw (4.5m) - I’m still shocked that last season, he played all 38 games in the PL for us last season. World Cup year shaw was moving different. For him, I’d recommend having him for the start of the season, for the good fixtures but always be prepared for a replacement for him as he could very well end up being injured, in the upcoming season. I do hope he proves this wrong though. I’d say he is a pretty decent pick for the price and points he will get. But if you are going to go for a man united defender, I would definitely recommend Maguire.
Mason Mount (5.5m) - He is definitely a good player when he plays… he is also playing pretty great in preseason… but then he did get injured once again. Overall, he gets injured very often and will likely not get any gametime in midfield unless UCL football starts. Not a good FPL asset.
Kobbie Mainoo (5.5m) - He has transformed and proved himself under Michael Carrick, even after a very disappointing spell under Amorim. But he dosen’t have much routes to points. He could get some points when he occasionally scores but it won’t happen often and could get defcons but he is not trustworthy as well.
Andrey Santos (5.0m) - He’s impressed in the pre-season friendly and in my opinion, if he keeps impressing in pre-season, he might get a lot of chances when the season starts. But again, he’s not really trustworthy when it comes to points does it. Not really proven to get Defcons and might have rotation risks with tielemans and mainoo.
Patrick Dorgu (6.0m) - Never have I ever thought partrick Dorgu would play well as a LW when the season started last season. When he started LW under Michael Carrick and a game under Amorim, he’s impressed so much in that position, he showed so much promise. He’s having an OKish preseason right now but as an FPL asset… I don’t think he will start over Cunha as of right now. But I think things will be very interesting for him when UCL football starts, because that’s when he’ll be playing a lot of games, due to cunha’s fitness. But it is too early to get him now.
Amad (6.0m) - I think he’s kind of an winger like Doku. Of course doku is better than him and he didn’t play that great after AFCON, but after Amorim left, he kind of lost his automatic starting spot I feel like. He is a type of winger to dribble a lot, but not really a good asset to get some decent pts. He is also 6m, so there are too much better options than him that you just simply can’t ignore.
Youri Tielemans (6.0m) - A very good player, for sure. However though, looking at last season’s performances in the PL, he only got 68 pts. I’m 90% sure he will start for us, at midfield but for 6m, there’s just too much good options other than him.
Bruno Miguel Borges Fernandes (12.0m) - The most expensive midfielder in the game with 12m. Some people argue that this year, they can go without Bruno because he had a bad World Cup and all but… come on now. he’s coming off breaking the assist record last season and yes, I know Casemiro is gone but as of right now, him and Tielemans are the 2 people that can create the most chances in our team and I know that he will keep delievering this season in FPL. For me, he is absolutely essential for this year.
Marcus Rashford (7.0m) - I really don’t think he gets much significant gametime until the UCL starts. Maybe he gets some cameos off the bench but he will not be getting almost any points unless our wingers get injured. For 7m, far more better options than him.
Bryan Mbeumo (8.0m) - as of right now, he is the 2nd most asset selected for us. I think he will get decent points, especially some goals vs. the promoted teams but you can’t ignore his performances dropped significantly after Afcon last season. Hopefully he gets his good form pre-Afcon but he’s not been playing good after that torunement. He’s been missing lots of chances that Bruno gave it to him last season. I would definitely start with him in the start of the season, but I would wait and observe him and see how he plays. Yes, he will get some goals but his performance isn’t at his best right now. Hope he does get back there.
Matheus (“The Surfer”) Cunha (8.0m) - He did really good for us last season. Scored a lot of clutch goals and when Mbeumo started playing not that great, he was the one that claimed all the good goals and a little bit of assists. He will definitely be a good asset to own especially us facing 2 promoted teams in the first 2 game weeks. I would recommend having Mbeumo over him though, because I think there is a higher chance Mbeumo scores vs. the 2 promoted teams rather than Cunha but that might change vs. other different teams.
Benjamin Šeško (7.0m) - We’re still very careful about him right now because he is still recovering from an injury he sustained from the Liverpool game last season. He hasn’t featured in any pre-season games so far, so I don’t think there’s much of a chance he starts on the first few weeks. He definitely could be a great FPL asset after impressing under Carrick last season but as of right now, there’s a very high chance he will not get much game-time at the start of the season.
Joshua Zirkzee (5.5m) - I don’t think I can say much about him. He hasn’t been that great in pre-season except one game and he will not get much game time. Definitely not a good forward for FPL.
Overall, As a Man United asset this season, I recommend Bruno, Maguire, Cunha, and Mbeumo to consider at the start of the season. Thank you so much for spending your time for reading this long post and I think it’d be really good if fans from other prem teams did this. You are free to discuss your distinct opinion in the comment as well. I really do hope this was helpful for you. :)
He will be succeeding unc case’s number! 😄
