I got temporary ban from a sub
So, there was a wholesome video posted on r/AwwwIndia showing a grandmother’s priceless, emotional reaction to meeting her newborn grandson for the first time. Literally just pure joy.
Of course, because it’s Reddit, someone in the comments immediately had to kill the vibe by bringing up toxic gender politics, basically implying: We all know what would have happened if it wasn't a boy. People only get happy for grandsons, they just hide it behind this cute context.I replied to them completely respectfully, trying to defuse it. I said: Don't make it as gender war. Many people do celebrate for girl child. They call her mahalaxmi is born."
From there, it completely spiraled. People started aggressively dogpiling me:
When I pointed out that determining the fetus's gender via ultrasound is strictly illegal in India to prevent bias, they told me to "come out of my male privilege bubble."
So I thought I might be wrong and posted the screenshots on r/tamilyapping
Another user completely lost it, threw a massive, unprovoked tantrum, told me to "stfu," and accused me of "mansplaining feminism" and defending female foeticide—all because I wanted to keep a video about a grandma smiling positive.I kept my cool, didn't use abusive language, and simply called out the hypocrisy and the aggressive tone.
So I thought I might be wrong and posted the screenshots on r/tamilyapping to get my side's innocent.
The opposite girl/users clearly mass-reported or unwantedly raised a complaint against my account, and the mods took the bait hook, line, and sinker. Instead of checking who actually started the toxic gender war in a wholesome sub, the mod just banned.
It’s crazy how you can literally speak up for balance and positivity, get hit with actual rule-breaking hostility ("stfu", ableist slurs, etc.), and you end up being the one getting banned because someone threw a temper tantrum and flagged your comments. Wholesome Reddit at its finest.
