Which stroller travel system is better? Maxi Cosi Zelia or Evenflo Shyft Intuiti? (FTM 28 weeks and overwhelmed 😭) [on]

Hi everyone,

I’m a first time mom currently 28 weeks pregnant and honestly I am SO confused about which stroller travel system to get. 😭

We recently went to West Coast Kids to check strollers in person. The staff there told us that the Evenflo Shyft Intuiti doesn’t sell well enough for them to keep inventory in-store, but they can still ship it to us if we order (which made me think parents does not have a positive review on this product?). On the other hand, they said the Maxi-Cosi Zelia is a very popular choice among parents.

The thing is… both are around the same price point, and I THINK I like the Evenflo more because of the 180 revolve feature and the soothing technology. But now I’m torn because I rarely see people talk about it online.

Has anyone here used the Evenflo Shyft Intuiti? Is it worth the price? What are the pros and cons?

Or is there another stroller/travel system brand I should be looking into instead? What worked for you guys and why?

For context:
-We live in midtown Toronto around Mount Pleasant
-I think we’ll mostly use the stroller for walks, parks, errands, and city sidewalks
-We probably won’t do a lot of off-roading or hiking

The West Coast Kids staff said we should identify our lifestyle first before choosing a stroller, which makes sense, but now I’m overthinking everything. 😅

I also feel so behind with baby prep already. I literally only have 1 set of baby clothes and 2 packs of newborn diapers so far and I feel like I’m running out of time. 😭

Please suggest a good stroller travel system for us and share your experiences!

Thank youuu ❤️

This is for my pregnant ladies who are/were prediabetic!! [on]

Hi! I am a FTM currently 27 weeks pregnant. At the start of my pregnancy, my doctor ordered blood work including HbA1c. My result came back at 6.5% (which is considered diabetic), so I was immediately referred to an OB and endocrinologist.

After that, I really tried to be more mindful with my sugar intake. I used to drink Coke Zero with every meal, but now I barely have it unless I really crave it 😁

Fast forward to May — my OB ordered another HbA1c test along with the 1-hour glucose tolerance test. At this point, I had already prepared myself mentally to be diagnosed with diabetes and gestational diabetes.

To my surprise, my HbA1c went down to 5.6% (normal range)! But… I failed the 1-hour glucose test.

My OB then sent me for the 2-hour glucose test, which I did today. Again, I was fully expecting a GDM diagnosis because I failed the 1-hour test. But surprisingly… I PASSED the 2-hour test!! All my blood results came back within normal range. I honestly could not believe it!

I’m posting this because I know how scary and discouraging those numbers can feel during pregnancy. Having a high HbA1c at the beginning does not define you, and failing the 1-hour glucose test does NOT automatically mean you did something wrong. Pregnancy does so many weird things to our bodies.

When I failed my 1-hour test, even with a normal HbA1c, I felt so guilty and worried that I might be harming my baby because of “high sugar.” But sometimes it’s just how pregnancy works.

So to all my pregnant girlies out there — keep going, keep taking care of yourselves, and don’t lose hope ❤️ Wishing healthy pregnancies and healthy babies for all of us!

Is it okay to wear maternity leggings + a white top for my civil wedding? 😭 (28 weeks pregnant by then)

Hello,

Just as the title says, we’re having our small intimate civil wedding next week and I have NOTHING to wear. 😭 Either my clothes don’t fit me anymore, or if they do fit, they just don’t look good on me.

I’ve been trying on dresses and every single time I tell my partner I look like a penguin. 🐧 I’m short (5’0) with a very obvious baby belly, and honestly the whole process has been exhausting physically and emotionally. I actually had a breakdown last week trying to find something decent to wear.

Since it’s only a simple civil wedding(2 other witnesses), would it be okay if I just wore maternity leggings with a nice white formal top/blouse? I don’t want people to think I didn’t make an effort, but your girl is TIRED. 😭

Did anyone else here go super simple for their wedding outfit while pregnant? I just want to feel comfortable and not cry while getting dressed lol.

It is really neccessary to have a baby registry? [on]

Hi! I’m a FTM currently 27 weeks pregnant. As the title says, is it really necessary to have a baby registry?

We are not rich or super well-off, so buying expensive baby stuff is already stressful enough. But honestly, the thought of asking for things from friends and coworkers makes me feel uncomfortable/shy. 😅

The thing is, my workmates, friends, my husband’s coworkers, and even my boss kept asking if we already set up a registry.
I’m also fairly new at work (only been there about a year) and I only work part-time, so I feel like I’m asking for too much if I make one.

Another thing is that some of the items I’d want to include are on the pricier side. But if I only put cheaper items, I feel like there won’t be enough options for people to choose from. 🥲

For moms/parents here:

Did you make a registry?
Did you feel awkward about it too?
What are the actual must-have items that should be included?
What are the things you thought you needed but barely used?

Also, which registry website would you recommend?

I’m currently thinking about:
Amazon (wide selection)
Babylist
West Coast Kids (but maybe too pricey?)

Would really appreciate any advice or insight from other parents. ❤️

A1C of 6.5% to 5.6%

Hello!!

Am i considered diabetic if i had an a1c result of 6.5% last january and then 5.6% just yesterday?

I tried my very best to cut down in sugars and carbs. I usually drink come zero everyday before the initial a1c of 6.5% now i only have them occassionally!

I am really scared of having diabetes since it runs in my family and I know first hand how hard it could be.

Possibility of Gestational Diabetes?

Has this happened to anyone else before? What did you end up doing? 🥺

I just had my 1-hour glucose tolerance test and got a result of 8.7 (I think the cutoff is 7.7). I’ve been really anxious about this test because earlier in my pregnancy my HbA1c was 6.5% (which is considered diabetic range). Since then, I really tried my best to cut down sugar and be more careful with what I eat, and my newest HbA1c result is now 5.6% 🙏 which is normal.

Now I’m confused and honestly feeling sad. Does this automatically mean I have gestational diabetes? I’ve seen posts where some people failed the 1-hour test but passed the 2- or 3-hour glucose test after.

I’m also scared because I really don’t want to end up needing insulin 🥲

Just wondering if anyone has been in a similar situation and what happened after? What did your doctors recommend and how did things turn out?

Is Merrick better then Royal Canin?

Has anyone experienced this with their dogs? We have toy poodles and noticed that whenever we feed them Royal Canin, they get loose and really smelly poops.

We tried switching them to a bland diet of boiled chicken breast and rice for a few days, and while their poops didn’t become fully hard, they were definitely firmer and less smelly. But every time we slowly transition them back to the Royal Canin food, the loose and smelly poops come back again.

We’re now thinking of switching them to Merrick Small Breed Chicken & Sweet Potato. Has anyone tried this food for toy poodles? Did it help with sensitive stomachs or stool issues?

Just wondering what could be causing this and if the Merrick food might be a better option.

Hi!!

I am FTM and currently 25 weeks pregnanat. Basically I have no appetite for anything. My days consist of a high fiber cereal and one meal at night. I dont feel hungry most of the time but I am worried that baby might be and I am not eating “right”. Maybe because I have been sick (cough and colds) for almost 5 days now. I am worried for the baby but literally no appetite for food.😔
