Title. I'm about to start the game but I can't find much content. The first part had some guides and maps which helped a lot keeping track of everything. Any resources/tips you want to share?

Please can someone explain to me like I'm 5 yo how can I go to blighted marsh to acolyte's haven without being forced to go back to passage and losing progress?? I've already defeated architect and I want to level up before facing sheperd (he's kicking my ass)
I just beat legion, and I was on my way to biome 5 but I don't see any path or continuity except for the portal which takes me to the base. Is there any alternative? will I lose my upgrades, proficiency etc if I fast travel there? I'd like to keep going now that I've picked some good perks
