Afraid to become a nurse as I fear my info would be public (USA).

I've dealt with real threats and I'm afraid that my info will never be private online... This goes for everyone actually. Is there maybe another country one could move to where they have peace of mind with actual privacy of their information?

or way of making their info private completely?? wtf do you do?

Why do I let my guard down with people after an hour therapy session?

This almost doesn't feel real to ask but it is. I have cptsd and after therapy sessions, I feel less like a hermit and I am more likely to engage with other people. I brought this up to my therapist before and told her I feel almost like a child with my guard down, and feeling suddenly like the world is a safe place to open up... I feel more free to take chances socially which has been a bad thing.

A lot of my cptsd is from being hurt by people I didn't know well enough. I've encountered horrible people in my life also that hid that fact for years too so I have a ton of betrayal trauma. I've also had stalkers. It makes no sense to me why I'm suddenly feeling like going back into the world without boundaries after a session. I expressed in therapy also that seeing a therapist when I was an actual young child made me want to let down my boundaries with my mom, like it just suddenly made the bad things disappear. My mom is extremely abusive and at that time, I should've been taken by CPS. 😅 My mom ignored me for essentially my entire childhood, and it was a one-way interaction where I'd be projecting my own qualities onto her if it felt like a good experience. It's like jumping into shark infested waters with rose colored glasses. See, I can write this out and pick it apart to understand but my body and brain doesn't line up after a session. After sessions lately, I've been consciously avoiding people so I'm not making the same mistake.

I'm 28, neurodivergent and have needed to prioritize my safety in the world. I deal with dissociation/brain fog so my guess is that some of that is poked through, and I get too excited being able to breathe again, and my self control lacks. I am lonesome as well. :') I have had so many bad experiences at this point in my life and most of them are not my wrongdoing beside oversharing or befriending a person too quickly-- it just feels like I am the cause of problems as there are so many. I might over share with a person but I'm not the one hurting another's reputation or stalking. I would hope that my lens after sessions is more grounded in reality. Again, it feels like I'm a child getting let out for recess. I don't want to avoid others after sessions either.

Coos Bay ranks as 2nd highest crime area in oregon. Is this true

I was thinking of moving out there for the college to attend in person, and then I saw it was high crime. One of the few articles said it was #1 and portland was #2. I am in shock from that. I'm not gonna believe everything I read ever so I'm asking you guys.

I wanted to check out the nursing program there and would be getting a cheap apartment. I'm not into drugs (just weed) and am more of a quiet country folk person, but I don't want to settle in a boring area. I haven't associated coos bay with being a safe area in my mind as I've known a few people from coos bay and they... they did things differently. That doesn't go for everyone though.

From local sources, I was reading that coos bay cops are very corrupt too and that plays a big part in the high crime statistic.

***this is the first time I've seen a post of mine disliked. That's fine, but I'm a female I need to do my research.

Dyslexia and chemistry...

I'm new to chemistry and realize my brain cannot compute equations very well with a mix of coefficients, subscripts, and superscripts. I'm bamboozled because I'm not bad at math. I will try to balance an equation and I end up writing things in the wrong place sometimes, and just totally going the wrong direction. I've used ai to help break things down to learn, and even when I'm copying something down, I move a subscript on accident. I know coefficient is molecule count, superscript is ion charges, subscript is number of atoms.

I don't think chemistry's for me... it feels impossible. I like chemistry though and I'm trying. I also will try to balance an equation and change one side, then write it out and somehow it becomes even more confusing and difficult for me to understand when writing it out was my choice to make things easier visually... It feels like i'm writing a foreign language backwards. The deeper i get, it just feels worse. what the hell. Does anyone have advice?

How do I remove my public info from Google? Also, here are things I've learned since digging through the internet to find ways to secure my privacy.

Hey y'all. For a long time now, my info with old addresses, relatives, phone number, and etc is online and I have recently dealt with a stalker. I also have been gang stalked, I don't like to say those words. I want to be scrubbed from online completely and it's a process. I feel like I'm in a learning curve. My writing here sucks since I'm hella tired, forgive me.

I removed my info off white pages and spokeo (which are top two). I did a Lexus Nexus opt out form just now. I know there are apps that will scrub the internet for you if you pay them, which I'm not knowledgeable of those apps at all. Do you guys know anything about them/which are real and work? Are they scams?

Btw, you, if you've dealt with stalking, you should consider opting out of Lexus nexus. I didn't think of this until my brain connected the dots of when I had a friend in insurance who said they could background check anyone... Not that it's legal for them to do so, but anyone with access can use that site including legal officials like lawyers, etc. police. I have seen this first hand. It's huge. If you seriously deal with gang stalking, please do yourself a favor and say this is due to "stalking" as the reason. And say "stalking" for any opt out you do. They have to remove your info with that.

Also, you can protect your bank info so bankers can't search for your information that are outside of your bank. I haven't done that yet but that is a true thing. Just sharing this info as I wish I had known it before, and it took honest digging online to find these out.

For me as a college student, I can do FERPA status which means a college has to keep my info completely private from anyone and a pop-up shows if I am searched by a teacher or employee notifying that I am FERPA status. If someone calls to ask if I'm a student at that college, by law, they have to say no or else they are violating FERPA. I was able to get FERPA status through my student portal online thankfully, I didn't have to go in person to the registrar.

I am so annoyed with how there's no real protection for our info these days. It sucks. There's more I could say but I'm gonna stop here. If you guys have advice or also know sites that'll do the info removal everywhere, please lmk.

Have you ever been retaliated on for getting a restrainorder

I recently experienced stalking in a house I lived at and the guy also goes to my college. We were both renting rooms. I rejected him after we were seeing each other for a short period, and he started stalking me. It was recommended I get a restraining order. He had tried multiple ways to get my attention while I was living there until I moved out. The last thing he did was slander me to the LL and told him that I was on drugs(which I'm not). I could tell he was happy to finally get eye contact from me after that.

I worry that at the college if I take the work study job I used to have where I'd be seeing essentially every student, and even if I completely ignore him, it will trigger him to do something or slander my name there. Or if he ever saw me talking to another guy, it'd make him jealous and he'd do something in retaliation. I'm really trying to weigh the pros and cons. A bigger fear of mine is him stalking me on social media in the future, or if I had a searchable business under my name.

In your experience, did it get worse after getting a restraining order? Obviously, my case hasn't gotten to a severe point, but it is domestic and he is truly mentally unstable. One of the things he did was leaving a note saying to never speak to him again about anything whatsoever under my door, and after he continued to try to get my attention. I had been ignoring him at that point for 3 weeks.

Currently living in a dv shelter and depressed

Hi y'all. For a week now, I've been living in a shelter and I'm growing more and more depressed. I lived in a homeless shelter 3 months ago for a couple weeks, that was my first time ever in a shelter. I have bad stories from that one as I left due to harassment, etc. I would never recommend a homeless shelter to anyone after experiencing it first hand myself. People don't realize also that child abuse happens in those shelters and nobody does anything about it. It's really sad.

Anyway, there's something about the dv shelter though I'm in right now, or maybe it's me or my situation. I was previously renting a room in a house with 4 men. Mostly old guys and then there was a guy closer to my age, he and I were seeing each other for a short period. It was nothing but a roller coaster. We were intimate two times and after each time, he distanced himself and was clearly on this dopamine high. The third time that he wanted to talk and try to "pursue a relationship" with me, I said no because he hurt my mental health. He used excuses like Christianity (abstinence) and a 12 step program for porn to stop seeing me. I laid a clear boundary with him saying that "I think it's best I go my way and you go your way as you hurt my mental and you can focus better on your 12 step and religion". I told him no more. I turned around and went to my room after that to show I'm serious.

After that, I had been avoiding eye contact and any attempt of his to interact until I left. There were weird things he was doing though. The first thing was leaving a face wash in my shower and he wrote "free" on both sides of it with a sharpie... Which I found very creepy, weird, and offensive as I was homeless before living there. I took it out of the shower and placed it on the counter just in case it belonged to the other guy I shared the bathroom with on that main floor. I'm gonna name the guy that I cut off Pete to make this easier. Pete and the guy I shared the bathroom with didn't like each other so it was especially weird he'd place anything like that in there.

24hrs later, the face wash bottle was still there, so I threw it in the garbage. That night, pete took the face wash out of the garbage and put it on this shelf he made by my room... He made a literal shelf of free things for me with a sticky note "free". This was before the face wash was put in the shower so maybe I have my order wrong here. On the shelf, there were supplements, a face mask thing, now the face wash. I declined the supplements and anything he offered before that. It was such a weird thing that I have never experienced, again, it felt offensive.

A couple weeks later, he knocks on my window at 10pm. I ignore it. A couple days later, he knocks on my bedroom door, I ignore it again. He goes to his room and comes back and slides a note under my door telling me to leave him alone and that he never wants to speak to me about anything whatsoever. Then, he gets in his car and takes off. I picked up the note and honestly, I was shaking. It scared me. This was very random and I didn't know what was to come next from him. I notified the landlord and the landlord was WEIRD. I realized the whole house was weird and I'm actually in a shark tank. Pete btw goes to my college and is in the nursing program, I am a pre-nursing student.

When Pete and I met, we both said wow I can't believe we've never run into each other on campus?! It's a small-ish town. The third time we talked, he said, "actually I have seen you on campus" and he asked me which floor I go to for my class. I answered it not realizing it was creepy until after the convo. I opened up to him initially and overshared about my life when we met as he was asking me questions. I told him how I ended up homeless in the first place. How I was stalked before, I've been death threatened in my life too where I used to live. How my PTSD became so bad after mental abuse. In my honest personal story, I lived with some people that d-threatened me as they shared info about one of my friends that died some years ago, apparently what I was told of how she died then wasn't the complete story. It's such a traumatizing mind f*** because that was my childhood best friend. I'm talking s** trafficking. I had no idea. I wanted to take legal action but I became so afraid of retaliation from them. Anyway, yeah this guy knows that. I'm so mad at myself for sharing anything.

Anyway, after the note was left, he slandered me to the landlord. He told the landlord I was smoking weed and it was bothering him. Pete however has used it with me before so I just shared that, and he likes the smell of someone smoking a joint. That didn't land the way he wanted it to with the LL. The landlord though got really weird at this time and I knew I needed to go as there's no protection for me. The LL said "it's because you rejected him". He told me that pete expressed "concern" about my mental health also with marijuana, and from what the LL said, it sounded like Pete said I was on other drugs. It was was slander. I called the DV shelter after and they helped me to get out of that situation.

As I was packing up my car, pete sat on the porch a few times watching me move stuff and it was so creepy. He had a smirk on his face after the landlord convo I had the day before when I passed him in the hall. Then, as I was leaving he had this sad look and he was standing outside of my door. It looked like he was about to turn to me and say something but I closed my door.

I'm worrying that he will try to slander me at the college, and I thought that maybe I should relocate and go to a different college. I'm afraid of what he would do, or how he would retaliate if I notified campus security just in case something were to happen. Of course, I don't think he'd know if I reported it to security unless I also gave them a restraining order. The DV shelter staff asked me if I wanted to get a restraining order and I said no. That staff shook her head as she thinks I should. I am afraid of getting a restraining order as I know he'd tell the creep LL, and what if he tries to run into the people that d-threatened me? It'd be hard for him to but what if?

I don't want to know what monster would emerge from him if something like a restraining order might hurt his reputation with the nursing director.

I am so depressed. I can barely focus on my work. I had to tell my teachers I'm in a dv shelter which I know one of my teachers has a high school mentality and might share that info with toxic staff. It's like some of the staff are in a clique at my college and it's the worst as I'm a student that needs confidentiality and I'm under FERPA status. My teacher that he would know how to find as he asked me which floor I go to, I'm afraid he would repeat something pete says to him to others. That teacher didn't understand my situation when I came to him the past and thought it was mental illness 😅 I get too nervous. I still don't have the guts to get a restraining order. The LL has said to me before that I'm overreacting. The LL has 20 kids. I can't be sure he'd take Pete's side. The last time the LL texted me, he referred to Pete as "nit wit". Just really weird.

I'm in summer term and fulltime right now and afraid of failing my classes. I don't know what to do. This college has the best acceptance rate for their program and I'm afraid with everything I'm dealing with, my transcript from here is gonna be so bad that another program might not take me. As with pete, he moved here because it was the only program that would take him.

Also I'm gonna add that when pete and I were seeing each other, he'd say, "maybe I should just marry you" to justify intimacy. I would say, "if you proposed to me, right now, I'd say no". He as also insulting me to my face.

I had a stalker in the past where I lived that was a neighbor I didn't know, and I involved the police. Now, this guy who's a domestic stalker who wants power and control. He is unhinged. He also has bipolar, severe porn addiction, and he's a bit bizarre.

ADHD and cptsd when studying - college student

I am a student, I'm 28, getting back into school, and I take SO long to finish something. I also have cptsd that's bad

I likely need to update my Adderall prescription- which Adderall can go both ways for my focus. One of the last times I took Adderall besides today, I ended up trying to fix my mechanical pencil for 20-30 minute, spacing out, and likely using my phone at the same time. Oh my gosh. With or without medication, the length of time it takes me to complete an assignment for a syllabus alone is ridiculous. My brain stresses every detail afraid I might forget. I end up forgetting everything anyway unless I take a lot of notes. Have you heard of spoon theory? It takes literal spoons for me to do that super simple assignment.

I am taking chemistry right now and I love it but damn, I stared at two pages of a textbook for basically 5 hours last night when I had a deadline to finish the chapter. 5 hours. I don't always take that long but I was also overwhelmed with the chapter getting harder. My brain couldn't fathom polyatomic ionic compounds immediately until I could really slow down on the words and meaning... and hone my focus. Once my brain clicked and finally got engaged enough, I ended up getting a much better sense of understanding.

When I was younger, I still struggled in this way but I was a little faster. It's like I have to sit and meditate on a page to actually grab the information. Or have someone next to me that can snap their fingers and go *hey* next question get a move on. It's not that I'm lazy but I can't control my brain. I so desperately want to put in the time and effort to work and get a degree. I love science.

When I look at the periodic table, my brain kind of shoots off in different directions as I can also interpret the periodic table in an artistic way or two at the same time. It's like I have 4 thoughts for 1 intended thought or more. Or a bunch of half thoughts and it's like this buzzing. I'm not completely with the text in front of me.

Does anyone else have this? I suck at reading, yet I love to read. I hate it because I suck at it and am turtle slow. I'm very embarrassed and try to hide how slow I am. I feel like no one would take me seriously if I told them how slowly my brain processes information. I'm able to think out of the box though better than most.

What makes me sad is thinking my teachers think I am making excuses because I don't want to do the work when really I'm at home with the work in front of me for an embarrassingly long time

Has anyone decided to become a nurse that is in treatment for C-PTSD?

Hey, y'all, ignore my username lol. Please. I'm a pre-nursing student. I worked as a caregiver both for in-home visits and then in a nursing home as a caregiver/medtech, for a total of 7 years since I was 18. I am finally getting around to the process of becoming an RN.

At times, I feel like I shouldn't try to become a nurse due to C-PTSD. Maybe I'm too damaged/impaired with my memory and nervous system. At the same time, I think having C-PTSD might make me a better nurse. One of my driving forces in choosing the RN path is to serve others and be an advocate. Increase the number of safe people working in a hospital. I know there are different routes with an RN degree, but I dream of working in a big hospital upon graduating, and my dream job would be NICU, pediatric.

Not to overshare, but cps was involved in my childhood, and I feel like I would be protective of the children and have a good eye for it (detecting abuse/neglect/etc). I have made CPS and APS reports before, but as time goes on, while having cptsd, those reports get more overwhelming for me to make. My last CPS report I made was difficult because the parents were trying to intimidate me. I started to worry about retaliation. I am seeing a therapist and unpacking more trauma so I'm not so overwhelmed in the future.

Also, if you work in pediatrics and are reading this, I would especially love to hear from you.

Best Oregon Coast Colleges?

I am a pre-nursing student looking for recommendations on colleges up and down the coast (even in WA), and whether they accept my OR residency as in-state. I am passionate about chemistry and science as well, so if they have an extra-curricular activity, quality/passionate professors, I'm in. I was invited to the chemistry EC at my current, don't know if that's a thing at other colleges.
