Henry Wallace is probably rolling in his grave with the kkkurrent state of things.

For those unawares, Wallace was the best damn Secretary of Agriculture (and then Vice President) we ever had in the US. He was a Democratic Socialist, even way back then. What a thriving, sustainable nation we could have been by now if he hadn’t been replaced by bomb-dropping Truman and the conservative DINOs in the Democratic Party’s leadership. That faction still overwhelmingly holds the party and the people back today, and they need to be voted out in the midterms and beyond.

The Most and Least Visited Counties in Pennsylvania

This map is generated based off the user data of a website (mob-rule) in which users keep track or which counties and county equivalents they have been to or traveled through. For example, in addition to big population centers like Philly and Pittsburgh, you can see a southern belt of counties stretching across the state that shows the I-76 turnpike, and a slightly less prominent belt of counties in the north showing the path of I-80. Also prominent is the path of I-90 through Erie County.

Edit: This is a map showing BOTH the "lived in/visited" AND the "passed through" data together. For example, Adams County is a huge tourism destination, but it lacks the 2 busy interstates (81 and 76) that Franklin County has, which explains why Adams County is much lower on this list than its neighbors (its low population doesn't help either).

The New York Times helped turn trans rights into political controversy, analysis finds

A new data investigation argues that The New York Times sharply changed the way it covers transgenderpeople beginning in 2022, moving from rights-based framing toward more skeptical, conflict-driven coverage that elevated opponents of transgenderrights and gave less prominence to transgender people themselves.

The analysis, published Friday by civil rights attorney Alejandra Caraballo in The Dissident, reviewed 3,242 Times articles published between 2014 and early 2026. Caraballo also published an accompanying data site, where readers can review the findings and methodology.

“This isn’t about any individual story,” Caraballo, who said the project took her two months to complete, told The Advocate in an interview Monday. “This is about the whole corpus of how they’ve covered trans issues over time.”

The New York Times did not initially respond to The Advocate’s request for comment. After this story was published, the paper rejected the analysis and denied that its coverage is biased or anti-trans. In a statement to The Advocate, Danielle Rhoades Ha, the Times’ senior vice president of communications, said the paper’s role is “to report accurate, fact-based information on all aspects of a story to help the public understand vital issues better.”

Caraballo, a clinical instructor at Harvard Law School’s Cyberlaw Clinic, said she undertook the project because years of criticism from transgender writers, journalists, and advocacy groups had often been met by the Times with defenses of individual stories. The problem, she said, was not always factual error, but the cumulative effect of framing, story selection, and prominence.
“It is harder on the individual level because there isn’t anything usually factually wrong with their stories,” Caraballo said. “But part of the problem is the framing, what they choose to highlight, and how much priority they give certain stories.”

Regarding (Upper) Adams County’s 250th "EPIC" Extravaganza…

#BanTheKlan ✊🇺🇸

The shady mayor and coordinators were originally planning to completely shut down traffic in/out of town for ten hours in order to trap everyone for the affair. How is that legal? That kind of town lockdown isn’t even done for the South Mountain Fair or the Apple Blossom and Harvest festivals, nor did they respect legitimate Covid lockdowns at the time.

Luckily, people complained and now the lockdown is only three hours. Turnout is gratefully expected to be lower than anticipated, thanks to people starting to wake up out of their cult state. Ultimately, I hope that forcing phony patriotism down everyone’s throats has the opposite effect, and that the clock is ticking for the current iteration of leadership in this part of Adams County.

‘Cicada’ COVID variant detected in Pennsylvania

From the article: “…Instead, the concern is that the strain isn’t a good match for the current COVID-19 vaccine, which was formulated to target the JN.1 lineage. That means the BA.3.2 type, which has a substantially different spike protein, could be better at evading the vaccine.

Dr. Enfield still recommends the vaccine, which can still prime your immune system to fight off all types of COVID-19. But if you have concerns that the vaccine doesn’t offer enough protection, you can also use other steps to avoid getting sick, like washing your hands, wearing a mask in crowds, and avoiding people who aren’t feeling well.”

Out of curiosity: Why have WGAL and other local news outlets been mostly silent about Beth Farnham and Todd Crawley?

In practice, insurrectionist John Joyce is just as dangerous as his buddy Scott Perry, so why not get him out of the House in November, too? Catherine Wallen, yet another white nationalist apologist, will also do just as much damage in her new role in the state legislature if she keeps the specially-elected seat.

The gerrymandering and segregation of the York-Adams social support infrastructure (aside from the still-shared tax bureau) is not working for Adams County, as designed. The effects have been devastating and it’s not right for the state organizers to continually write off Gettysburg and Greater Adams County as flyover country to be lumped with the Greater Altoona Area. That’s just sheer negligence and these are real lives at stake, not just numbers. Even if constituents are just numbers to them, they should be trying to actually win around here (instead of coming off like the Washington Generals).

Why are the campaign teams and ACDC not getting more local marketing help from the PA Dems? What’s really the catch?
