I just added one of the most important Golden Age comics to my collection: O Globo Juvenil Mensal #32 from 1943. The cover of this comic is insane, doing something completely unprecedented by showing the Human Torch walking side by side with Superman, establishing the first crossover between National (future DC) and Timely (Marvel), 30 years before anything like this appeared in an American publication. This is the first known DC/Marvel crossover, and the Grand Comics Database identifies it as “The Earliest Timely & National Cross Over known to exist Globally.”

What impresses me the most is its extreme rarity, easily surpassing Action Comics #1, Detective Comics #27 and even Marvel Comics #1. I’ve talked to major collectors in Brazil, and many of them have never even seen one in person. There are only 7 copies in the census and another 4 in private collections, one of them being mine.

The more I research this issue, the more impressed I become. I’d even go as far as saying that, with the right recognition, it could make the list of the Top 100 Golden Age grails worldwide. This isn’t just an American reprint, but something genuinely unique that was legally produced under the laws and contracts of 1940s Brazil.

It’s an absolute grail. The craziest Golden Age comic I’ve ever had the privilege of owning.

Acabei de adicionar um verdadeiro Santo Graal à minha coleção: O Globo Juvenil Mensal #32, de junho de 1943.

Essa edição é de uma raridade absurda e possui uma importância histórica única. Na capa, Superman e o Tocha Humana aparecem juntos, representando personagens da National (futura DC) e da Timely (futura Marvel), respectivamente.

O mais impressionante é que o Grand Comics Database atualmente registra a edição como “The Earliest Timely & National Cross Over known to exist Globally” — o crossover Timely/National mais antigo conhecido globalmente — e considera most likely que seja o primeiro crossover internacional original entre heróis das duas editoras.

E a raridade é simplesmente surreal. Mesmo entre colecionadores brasileiros veteranos de quadrinhos antigos, muitos nunca tiveram sequer a oportunidade de ver um exemplar pessoalmente. Não é apenas uma revista difícil de encontrar — é uma daquelas peças que podem passar décadas circulando no meio colecionista sem que a maioria sequer encontre uma cópia.

Uma publicação brasileira de 1943, com Superman e Tocha Humana juntos, potencialmente representando o primeiro crossover internacional conhecido entre duas das maiores editoras da história dos quadrinhos.

Depois de mais de 80 anos, finalmente tenho uma dessas relíquias em mãos.

Uma das peças mais raras, improváveis e historicamente fascinantes que já consegui adicionar à minha coleção. 🏆
