[King's Island] on 35mm

I had some big expectations for this park and it still blew me away. Banshee is my new #1 suspended coaster, Diamondback with the longer trains is an elite hyper, Orion was incredible, and their woodies speak for themselves. The park is clean and the ops are great. I left feeling a little jealous of the Queen City thoosies.

For my fellow camera nerds, these were shot on an Olympus OM-1, with Tmax 400. The lenses are 50mm and 28mm.

[Holiday World] on 35mm

All pics are from a trip this June. The Voyage ran way rougher than I thought it would, so it's still El Toro supremacy for me.

For my camera nerds, the camera is an Olympus OM-1, and the film is Tmax 400. The lenses are 50mm and 28mm.

Gerald Ford could have ridden Kingda Ka

Kingda Ka opened as the world's tallest and fastest rollercoaster in May 2005, a full year and a half before the 38th President of the United States death in December 2006. Gerald Ford could have gotten a ride, but he elected not to.

[Six Flags Great Adventure] Project Purple updates and more

The rate this new coaster is going up is incredible. I just with the park would give us a proper press release some time before the track work is complete.

Anyway, for the camera nerds, the camera is my Olympus OM-2s and the lenses are 50mm and 28mm. The film is Kodak gold.

[Six Flags GAdv] a peep of Project Purple on 35mm

In the time it took me to get this film developed, the construction crew already added 200 feet worth of tower to this thing.

For the camera nerds, I used my Olympus OM-1 with a 50mm lens, and Tmax 400 film.

Ours was bigger

I know this isn't a sub for coaster nerds, and any true thoosies reading this already know the lore. If you went to Great Adventure between 2005 and 2024, you had to test your metal on Kingda Ka. It was the tallest and fastest rollercoaster in the world, 0 to 128 in 3 and a half seconds, and it took you up 456 feet. We took that record from this coaster at Cedar Point in Ohio, which stands 36 feet shorter than our King, and is 8 mph slower.

However, these coaster models are immensely expensive to maintain due to their hydraulic launch. Kingda Ka had a dedicated full-time maintenance crew, and with parts, the cost was over $1,000,000 a year to keep running. This coaster in Ohio was reinvented, losing its original launch that made it an icon. Unfortunately, Great Adventure decided against the same retooling for Kingda Ka, and instead blew it to pieces in February of last year. I rode this coaster in Ohio today, and as fun as it was, all I could think about was how New Jersey had it bigger and faster. You wanted the best? You came to us. Great Adventure has big things coming up, and I recommend anyone to take a visit. But I look at the crown jewel of this Ohio park and all I can think, ours was bigger.

[Six Flags Great Adventure] Project Purple in black and white

I took these a while ago, but I was only recently able to get around to developing this roll. It's really awesome to see this thing getting built.

Roederer Estate Brut NV

I wasn't feeling very adventurous, so I went with a reliable pick. Toasty Brioche aromas, with a hint of almond. On the pallete, there's whiteflower, medium body, with a tight finish. To my surprise, the bottle actually opened up after maybe 30 minutes and gave some reduced caramel notes. A nice little touch is RE started printing disgorgement dates on these bottles, with this one being 2/2025. A lovely, safe pick considering these can be had in my area for $26-$28.
