Worth the 5hr drive? Tips/Tricks?

I have Prestige, All-Parks Fast Lane, All-Day Dining & live 3hrs from Great America but about 5hrs from Kings Island. Been contemplating on getting my moneys worth on these passes and hitting other parks that aren’t insanely too far.

Finally found my ride, helping other people find theirs.

I rode my first roller coaster shortly after I turned 5 (The Raging Wolf Bobs at Geauga Lake) and I was mildly traumatized by the experience. About every 10 years I try again. Always ends in tears.

Today I chaperoned a school trip and had 3 girls who had never been to an amusement park. Ever. Started them with Adventure Express with the idea that it’s mid thrill-wise. Success. Next was Sol Spin for upside down. Check.

“Mrs. OtterlyRuthless. Let’s do that next.”

The Banshee.

Y’all, I was not about to lose face in front of these teenagers. So we went, low-key panicking the whole time.

And it was awesome! I had *fun*. It made me heckin’ woozy, so it’s a once-a-trip ride, but I felt so proud.

I had another student later that was in the same boat, but settled for riding the AE and Bat with him. My stomach was not up to another go of the Banshee but found 2 other teachers for him to go with.

Seeing kids experiencing the park for the first time is weirdly heartwarming. And, I found a proper roller coaster to enjoy.

What's with the endings on Adventure Express and Mystic Timbers?

My wife and I went to the park on Sunday as the last event of our honeymoon. I grew up going to Cedar Point, and went to KI once in 2001 or 02 I think, so I don't remember much of what I rode, and what I do remember isn't there any more.

I purposefully didn't watch many pov ride throughs except Orion and The Beast with the wife to get her ready for it. So when we hit the "shed" on mystic timbers I was all ready for another drop or, somehow, even a launch. But it's just an anti joke, opening back to the station. Funny, but slightly disappointing.

I vaguely remember the hammer fist dudes on Adventure Express, but similarly found myself anticipating a surprise drop at the end of that lift hill, and more ride. But alas, another fake out!

I dont think CP has any that end in that manner. Maybe universal, or the Disney's do, but I can't remember those well either.

Is there an over arching reason for two rides in the same park with dramtic but anticlimactic endings? Some inside joke, nostalgia, or traditon reason? Mystic is GCI and AE is Arrow right? So not a manufacturers signature. I just dont get it!

Food pass questions?

Hi this may be a dumb or over asked question, but this year I was going to get a gold pass and was considering also getting a food pass. When I look online there is only a daily food pass. I could have swore they use to have a season food pass. Is that a thing? Has that ever been a thing? If that is an option how would one purchase it? Any help is good help. Again sorry if this is a dumb question.

Finally rode the diamondback

I have been scared of any big rollers coasters my entire life (28 years old) but today I decided to change that. I got a pass recent for my birthday with the food pass so I’ve been coming more regularly. I decided to force myself to get on the diamondback and I ended up really enjoying it. I’ll have to try Orion next time. Not that anybody really cares I just felt like sharing lol. Have a nice day!

The kids are allright

I went to King’s Island for the first time in 25+ years today. I picked today hoping that it being a Monday and school still being in session would lead to very light crowds and an opportunity to ride everything I wanted in a day without fast pass.

Much to my surprise, there was an enormous amount of teenagers in the park. I saw dozens of school buses in the parking lot so I presume it was a lot of high school field trips. None of these kids seemed to be accompanied by any adults/chaperones, they all seemed to be in small groups (4 to 6ish) and free to roam the park.

What shocked me was how well-behaved they all were. We shared midways, lines, and rides with literally thousands of these kids for the entire day - and I didn’t witness a single instance of anyone acting up or doing anything remotely wrong. Obviously this is just one person’s anecdotal experience, but I was impressed and it gave me hope that this next generation is full of a lot of good eggs!

Daughter needs a wheelchair for longer walks but is otherwise unrestricted.

Would it be reasonable to leave a wheelchair at the entrance to queues and retrieve after the ride? We’ll be in on a weekday soon so hoping lower crowds means less risk of something happening to unattended mobility aid. Thanks for your input!

To clarify, we’re bringing our own chair to use for the day.

Snacks on premium dining plan

I just had my first King’s Island visit since all the Six Flags changes to the add-ons, and they make it impossible to get details on how the snacks work on the Premium Dining Plan.

The day was almost over before I discovered that I could use it on Cinnabon, Dippin Dots, Auntie Anns, and things like cotton candy.

Does anyone know the following information?

  1. Do snacks reset every 90 minutes, or can you get them at shorter intervals?

  2. Is there a master list of specific locations and snack items that you can get with the premium plan?

The “entree and a side every 90 minutes” part is very straightforward, but next time I want to make the most of our plan and enjoy the snacks as well. Yesterday I got Dippin Dots and then shortly afterward was able to get cotton candy, so either they rang in the DD incorrectly or snacks reset at shorter intervals.

Does anybody know what the up charge is if you buy fast lane at the park?

If the website says $89, does anybody know what the Park will charge if you buy it onsite that same day?

Any word on Coasterstock?

I’m planning on making my first coaster trip to the park this year and figured I’d pair it up with the event to take advantage of ERT if possible.

From what I’ve read, it’s way past due for an announcement. The most info I could find was a post by Don Helbig on Facebook from February that said it would be back with “changes” this year. I’m sure they may be reevaluating that idea if the changes were anything like they had for Coastermania/Morning Rush at Cedar Point.

Terrified for my life… Steps backwards

I’m the crazy one who started with Adventure Express and then went on to Racer the next day. Racer was intense but I didn’t cry. Last two times I’ve made zero progress and almost psyched myself out going on the Carousel. I literally convinced myself something bad was going to happen.

Nothing happened and I survived. I technically did ride another coaster, “The Great Pumpkin Coaster” (the super baby kid ride) with my 3 year old niece— who loved it. I literally barely let go of the bars. I’m going to try to ride the Woodstock Express and Snoopy’s Soap Box Racers. They scare me with the “4” thrill rating. But I’ll survive? I hope. I don’t find the thrill rating helpful. I think that is really making me overthink everything more.

White Water Canyon is ranked a 4 and I remember LOVING that ride. I can’t remember it being scary or making me feel dangerous, ? I’m a little lost on their rating system.

I really want to get over my fears.

6’1 265-270 Will I be able to ride most coasters at KI?

(Pictures added for proportion reference) Haven’t been to KI since I was 16 and I’m going to be 23 in a month so was quite a bit smaller last time I went. My goal is to ride all the big coasters
