I initially thought it took place after 1 but after a video I saw about the backstage DLC having the iconic raincoat on a mannequin display and a girl within one of the rooms with the doll maker that vaguely resembles the raincoat girl from VLN, I’m not too sure anymore.

A second question I have on the topic of Backstage is like does it take place before or after LN3 I genuinely cannot tell

I want to preface that I do kinda like LN3 as a game even with all its issues, however I do feel some need to vent this

the more I think about it, the more disappointed I feel about LN3’s base game (the DLC is good, a vast improvement over the main game)
Everything just feels like a major downgrade compared to all 3 previously released games (yes even VLN) ESPECIALLY LN2
- The buddy system is absolutely abhorrent because Low/Alone continually gets stuck making the “reset from checkpoint” option MANDATORY sometimes
- The enemy selection is overall worse than anything in the franchise with only Kin & Minikin feeling ANYTHING like Little Nightmares
- Level transitions? What’s that?
OST is nothing
- Otto is not really built up at all and requires people to listen to a podcast to even know who the fuck he is (imo outside media shouldn’t be mandatory to know who the main threat is)
- the puzzles consist of “hit thing with wrench” or “shoot arrow” and nothing else
- the kaiju baby just does NOT really fit Little Nightmares imo
And overall the game just feels like a fan game and I don’t mean that as a compliment. It’s a poorly optimised mess that just teleports you to the next area after you’re done doing what you’re required to and it feels lesser than everything that came before.

That being said I do not envy the position SuperMassive was in, they had to follow up the best entry in the series (LN2) and having that kind of pressure must’ve been a lot
But that being said however, they also helped on that game, so the fact that the buddy system in LN3 is so horribly done is just like
what the heck happened?!
