Recently, I've seen sporadic bursts of Islamophobia on the teenager subs and beyond. As a Christian myself, it feels necessary for me to stand up against religious discrimination, especially considering how similar both religious are.
First, Islam shares many similarities with the other Abrahamic religions (Same God, same figures etc.)
The main goal of the Abrahamic religions is to worship the Creator and to make the world a better place for all. Islam is no exception to that rule.
To clears things up about Islam:
The idea of women being less worthy than men is false. The Quran teaches people to respect their wives/partners, as stated by Surah An-Nisa 4:19 (Condemning abuse against your spouse) and Quran 2:187 (Mutual respect between partners). Abusing your partner is strictly forbidden, as it goes against the rules stated above and the overall rules of kindness and respect mentioned earlier.
Pedophilia is also forbidden. To marry/procreate, you need physical maturity (بُلوغ/Bulugh) and emotional/mental maturity (رُشْد/Rushd). Regarding Muhammed, many modern scholars estimate Aisha's age to be 18-19 (based off of her sister's age), contrary to the belief that she was 9. If a 9 year old doesn't meet the requirements of Rushd and Bulugh (with additional evidence that she was an adult), then why would 9 be permissible?
Regarding other faiths, there are multiple Quran verses that explicitly state religious tolerance and acceptance (6:108, 2:256, 60:8 etc.)
Additionally, the other Abrahamic Religions (Judaism and Christianity) are noted in Islam as "People of the Book", granting them full religious freedom.
Finally, The Quran never mentions explicitly calls people of the LGBTQ+ community harmful. As with the other Abrahamic religions, things get lost in translation/meaning over time, so many passages are taken out of context to justify queerphobia, or on the contrary, Islamophobia. According to Islam, everybody is made in God's ideal image. If Allah made everyone in their image, then why would being in the LGBTQ+ community be forbidden?
All of this is not to say that no wrongdoings have been done in the name of Islam. Extremists and terrorists go against Islam's core values of peace and respect. It is completely justified to be angry with them and their actions, but basing 2B+ people off of ISIS or Al-Qassam isn't right. Would you say that every Christian on Earth is evil because of MAGA? Or that every Jew is evil because of the conflict/genocide in Gaza? Is it wrong to be Japanese because of Japan's atrocities in WW2?
Hopefully this clears everything up about Islam. I hope you can understand that there are genuinely good people behind the religion, and that you shouldn't blindly follow hate.
(If you have anymore questions about this topic, I'll update this post to clear up anything else that I might have missed.)
