Why aren't meat pies popular in America?

Last winter I traveled to South Africa, Australia and New Zealand and found the most amazing small meat pies in those three countries. There are meat pie chain restaurants, too. I'm curious why this food isn't even a thing in America.

EDIT: After reading some replies, I feel foolish for not realizing there are some big regional favorite meat pies in America, like pasties in Michigan.

19 years after it aired, Sebastian's remains one of the most successful restaurant chains all over the world. What's your favorite Sebastian's combo and/or pizza?

Every one talks about Pete's personal progression through the series, but how come no one ever talks about how enormous his head becomes?

Season 6 was to feature a storyline where Old Face Andre comes back from the dead with a much younger face, so everyone calls him New Face Andre. What other storylines did we miss out on due to HBO cutting the series short?
