writing a weird Qiqi fanfic (SFW)
I was playing Genshin and felt like writing a story for it, cause I knew some of the characters are probably forgotten down the line. And also won't really dive deep into dark territories I'm interested in. And I rolled Qiqi... I really like this character. Though I didn't have the chance to level her up yet
And I had this idea for a weird story. Which I am currently writing. Which involves Qiqi forgetting things. In the game this part of her story is written a bit for laughs. Last time I checked, Qiqi is not a tragic character as much, whose fact of forgetting is treated as a terrifying thing to have. It's more of an innocence thing
Which, sure. Perfectly fine, not everything has to be grimdark. But you know, there is this book. This trait reminds me of... Called Hyperion by Dan Simmons
In it there is a storyline about a (spoilers for Hyperion) >!girl who ages backwards and keeps forgetting the life before, she basically reverts back slowly into being a child and then an infant. And then disappears from existence.!<This ties into some bullshit later down the road. And is just one of many arcs. But is a fascinating territory to explore
Combine also the awareness raised about Alzheimer's that was done by for example Everywhere at the End of Time album. And uhhhhhhh... I was just inspired to write a story about a character dealing with forgetfulness
The whole thing also about Qiqi not experiencing emotions, could be a great metaphor for taking antidepressants. Which I have personal experience with. And... Yeah... A character about not remembering things. About being passive. About feeling generally nothing. And yet still trying to exist
I know most people are going to hate it. But in the context of the story it's not going to be as a bad as it sounds. Hmph. Just wanted to write it down here. The thing is also that this is not a whole fanfic dedicated to her. But instead one of the character arcs within a moderately wider fanfiction. Admittedly though I plan to make her one of the main if not the most important pillar of the story
Opinions?
something something, this game would be cooler if it was like Madoka Magica
really liked this artist, but they deleted all their work (their Vex drawing)
Elden Ring feels like such a half-assed game
zzz
It's so obvious. They spammed enemies throughout areas and realised that they would probably give too much souls, so they made them give barely any souls. End game enemies oneshot half your healthbar. But you can like counter them by just spawning a ghostly pokemon to assist you. I summoned a funny hat wizard with a comically large mallet. And he just gave Blade of Nicolah or whatever her name is a concussion. And then I did too. We just chain smashed her into the ground with giant hammers. 0 difficulty
PvP is just people throwing giant pots at each other. I see this seemingly epic skill guy who cosplays as Patches, and whilst 90% of his gameplay is skill. A lot of the time he just deletes players by throwing a hydrogen bomb at them. Like wtf is this? I played PvP and there was this one guy, all he did was throw hydrogen bombs at me, and I kept dying. Cause it was a rot-themed hydrogen bomb that was undodgeable, because it had a large aoe effect. And you don't have anti-rot boluses in the early game
Late game in Elden Ring constantly recycles enemies. Five unique bosses. Giant floating mandible skeleton you encounter in a cave, bro's entire aura was ruined when you realise the game can just mass produce them like freaking Star Wars droids
Liike wtf where did all these Godskin Nobles come from. I am surprised there is a school for wizards, when there are so few wizards. And not like a school for Godskins. Like they must've all come from somewhere, didn't they?
The recycled enemies overall have like murdered my entire enjoyment about the game. Why should I bother learning enemies patterns and approach things with skill. When I should be just like the developers of this game, and copypaste my "intellectual" approach by relying on cheap gimmicks. Like learning an enemy's moveset, I am just going to spam my lightsaber's anime move. And delete the enemy with repeated attacks of this kind, whilst wearing ultra heavy armour with a cool ring. Making them deal no damage to me
So zzz. In Dark Souls 3 you had such fascinating enemies and enemy placement. Meanwhile in this game, you just feel like the developers shat things all over the place. And then called it a day. The whole world is just some randomly placed spooky scary recycled enemies. In DS3 the world felt alive with knights walking around expensive palaces, even though everyone was undead. Their last actions were logical. Here you have a bunch of copypasted frozen old knights hanging around one specific empty copy paste ruins. Or a bunch of raptors hanging around one specific copy pasted Doom: Eternal asset

saw this in a TF2 video and thought it looks like a Starcraft portrait
i don't want to like Deadlock
Valve has a same cycle every time they make a game. They make it really cool and visually interesting at first, and then they bog it down with microtransactions until it breaks down and becomes a shadow of its former self
They did it with Dota, Counter-Strike and Team Fortress 2. They didn't do it with Left 4 Dead, Portal and Half Life 2, but if these games were multiplayer and had a chance to have predatory microtransactions in them. They probably would
I get it, video games have to make money somehow. But the way they did it in Team Fortress 2, the unusual hat spam. Was too much. Dota and Counter-Strike also kinda suffered heavily from the pursuit of microtransactions
In an attempt to make these two look more modern, they ported them to Source 2, which ruined the lighting system. And then replaced old stuff from the game with stuff that didn't look as interesting or provocative as the old things. I know people don't have much respect for Dota or Counter-Strike. They consider it to be esport slop, and maybe for a good reason. But these games used to have a lot of artstyle to them. And instead of preserving that in a time capsule for future generations, they replaced it with something else
Deadlock just feels like a reset of the cycle. It looks cool, but I think it will only be a matter of time, before Valve's greed takes over and they will attempt to make it a microtransaction hell. They will fill it with compendiums, skin packages, unusual ultra-rare items that make the characters look like something idiotic. People will cry "bro, they removed the glance value" and then other people will say "bro, get glasses, you suck so hard, lmao"
On top of that Valve has a habit of not finishing stories. They get bored and leave. It's a fucking miracle that they actually finished the Team Fortress 2 story, and it took them so long. And it obviously felt like a project they left to SOMEONE in the company, instead of doing it actually themselves
They have a very technologically advanced backbone to their video games which ends up bloating development time for them up to an eternity. Or maybe they don't just work at Valve. Each game has a story that just randomly ends, with the exception of Portal 2. Half Life randomly cuts off. Left 4 Dead randomly cuts off. Team Fortress 2, Dota 2, Counter Strike. The live-service forever games have an unsatisfying story as a design. Because who cares about the story, it's a premise and nothing else
So why would I want to emotionally invest myself in Deadlock. When I know that A - it will not have a story that'll ever finish or give me anything satisfying but a premise. And B - it'll eventually become a predatory microtransaction heaven that will cause it to forget what it originally was
