What is the situation with heal;thcare jobs? And work in general?

I've been living abroad for some years and plan to retuern to the UK next month, going straight into healcare as an HCA, hopefully higher band as I have a nursing dipoma of higher education, albeit, from 6 years ago.

I hear that the job market right now is abysmal. But I also hear that healthcare is desperate for workers... I feel like if so many are desperate for work, it's likely that the entry level roles for NHS are heavily applied for, despite so many roles seeming to be open.

Tell me your experiences, both looking for work in healthcare and outside of it.

I live in Tbilisi, I left England and a nursing degree 6 years ago, can’t go back. No funding and England is too expensive.

Since then I have taught English online and run some tabletop games locally for money, Also dog walking, dog sitting… im at the end of my tether honestly. I feel like just dropping to the floor and curling up.

I stupidly invested a lot of money in embroidery and sewing, thinking I would start a business. The problem is I hardly ever make anything, or sell anything, I know how to do it, at least make it, but I don’t know how to market.

Why can’t I just stick to something? Why don’t I have the willpower or energy?

There are many things I can do ‘kind of ok’, but nothing I do well enough to make money with.

Companies don’t want to hire someone new to the game who is living abroad, unnecessary risk. Careers are uncertain, nobody has spare money.

And AI, Jesus, nothing seems a good move anymore.

Hey, I’ve been running small in-person story-based games in Tbilisi and I’m thinking of opening up a few more sessions.

It’s basically a relaxed group where you play characters in a story, make decisions, and see what happens—kind of like an interactive movie, but you’re part of it. No experience needed, and I keep it simple so there aren’t a bunch of complicated rules.

A lot of people who’ve joined are using it as a way to practice speaking English without the usual awkward “language exchange” vibe. You’re focused on the story, so the conversation feels more natural.

Groups are small (usually 3–5 people), and the atmosphere is pretty chill.
