Homie in the striped pantaloons wandering the emptied out buffet 🦅

I think a Cooper's hawk? Never seen a raptor on my balcony before 😁

Bead-like orange nodules on feet -- avian pox? :(

I saw this individual at my feeder yesterday and then again just this morning. I'm confused because the lesions are so round and bead-like which is unlike all the pictures I've seen for avian pox ("cauliflower" growths). The bird seems otherwise alert and not all too bothered by the growths beyond some difficulty perching (doesn't hold the affected leg up or hop on one leg). But obviously I'm concerned 😅 Anyone have experience with or thoughts on this?

[Outage] Check your cams, it seems some are starting to come back online!

I have three Birdfy standalone cams, none of which were snapping moments or sending notifications since the outage.

Well, I just got a flurry of notifications from one of my cams (my cooldown is very short) and it looks like it's responding to motion again and taking videos! I just got a very unnecessary closeup of me working on my balcony garden 🤣

My other two cams seem to be staying dormant, but maybe progress is being made on the fix! One of them did also snap one moment today but I don't really consider that progress as this cam usually records 100-200+ moments a day.

First time seeing a bird drink from my DIY'd fountain! 😍

maybe DIY is a bit too generous, it's a setup cobbled together from spare gardening parts 🤣

I've had birds land on the grey ruffled platform and let the water run over their feet, but never seen this before today!

He JUMPS on Yellow the moment his girl so much as looks at him 💀

Looks like some awkward courtship in the beginning leading to a full pounce on a rival male!

(Video of sick bird) House finch conjunctivitis in Los Angeles, CA 😔

Put a NSFW tag in case anyone is sensitive to seeing stuff like this.

More of a sad post than a PSA honestly as I know LA is huge and house finch populations are very localized. This sick individual showed up at my balcony feeder yesterday. I'm pretty familiar with the regulars and this bird's condition seems somewhat advanced, so I'm hoping it's not someone in my usual group as I haven't observed anyone with symptoms in the previous days' footage.

I've taken in all my feeder stuff to be washed and bleached, swept up any stray seed, and wiped down all the perches I couldn't take in with isopropyl alcohol. I'm still so scared that it might spread to the little fledglings I've been watching for the past few weeks... or their parents 😭

Apologies for potato quality, these are stills from my bird cam videos. I've seen this finch with a "hole" in its cheek at my feeder for the past two days now. Is that just an exposed ear hole or something more sinister? I'm worried because of the second "hole" that seems to be underneath it.

Feeder setup: Multiple flat dishes with mixed seed, nyjer seed, and sunflower seeds. I put out enough for daily feedings and completely empty and rinse the dishes every night before refilling with fresh seed. I was using isopropyl alcohol to disinfect but became worried recently about the potential to harm the birds even after evaporation 😅

Bird is otherwise behaving normally. Eats voraciously, leaves and returns without difficulty, vocalizes when finch buddies are near.
