Thirdhand Smoke 10 Week Old

My fiancé took our 10 week old to visit his father today for around 4 hours. I have a very strained relationship with his father so I didn't go. Last time I was at FIL's house he wasn't smoking and his wife only smoked outside. When my fiancé got back to our home with our baby I smelled cigarettes as soon as I got close to them. Our baby REEKED of cigarettes. It was in her clothes, hair, even on her skin. I quickly gave her a thorough bath, but everything he brought with him reeks now. Our car seat is drenched in the smell, as well as our diaper bag, all the toys he brought, her blanket, etc.

I'm already having pretty bad PPA so this is definitely not helping. My fiance isn't taking this as seriously as I think he should either. I told him that she can't go there again until they deep clean and stop smoking indoors. He still wants to bring her over once a month, and doesn't think exposure to thirdhand smoke is a big deal.

How do I make him understand how serious the risks are?

How do I get the smell out of all of her stuff. Especially the car seat?

Any advice is appreciated

TLDR: 10 week old came back from trip with dad to FIL house reeking of cigarettes. How do I make my fiancé understand thats not OK, and get the smell out of carseat.

Post Partum Visit Questions

Hey All,

I'm two weeks post partum FTM and just had my 2 week follow up OB visit today. I was kept in hospital for 5 days after birth because of preeclampsia concerns, so the discharging doctor wanted me to see my OB at the 2 week mark and 6 week mark to make sure my BP is under control.

When I went in today my OB seemed dismissive of the discharging doctors concerns, spent less than a minute talking about my post partum hypertension, and told me to cancel the 6 week appointment since I had come in today for no reason according to her, andbshe would count this as my 6 week appointment. She also performed a pap smear, which was extremely painful especially since I had a second degree tear that is still healing.

She ended the appointment by telling me to follow up with a PCP and Neurology for my post partum hypertension and headaches and to see her again in a year for my annual.

I also scored a 14 on the Edinburgh PPD test and she said she would have someone from her office follow up with me sometime next week.

I don't know if its the hormones making me feel like this visit was crazy. Is this normal for a post partum visit?

Left my bathroom window open for a day three weeks ago and came home to a nest in the window crevice. Thankfully the nest has managed to stay up through heavy rain and wind, and now we have two baby birds! The timing of this nest feels extra special because I am due to give birth this month as well!
