20 months on T

I feel very happy with where I'm at with T, but excited for more progress. Top surgery will hopefully be coming in spring of the new year. For autistic people with body image issues, I think the changes transitioning brings can sometimes have difficult aspects to them. But sitting with my feelings about things that make me a little insecure, such as much more body hair or a changing face shape, make me even sure I'm on the right path. There are small insecurities, but so much more light in my eyes than I ever had before. I dont even really consider my past life a life— just survival until I could feel okay in myself.

Compression socks

Hello, I don't believe there's been a post covering this yet. I am disabled and pretty much exclusively wear compression socks. Now after 2 years, many of them are losing their compression properties. But as these socks are always polyester and elastane, tips for reusing the material from normal socks don't always apply.

I would love to hear if anyone has run into this, and what they came up with. I saw a post today about tights, which are a bit more similar, and cutting them up to make hair ties, which I think is very smart.

It's hard to reduce waste when you're disabled, and you never know where new sources of waste will crop up!

name ideas

hello all. i am a trans man writing a story with a trans man as a main character. I am writing it so that for the first part of the story, where he is closeted/pre-transition, his name is not mentioned. I want his first name in the text to be his chosen one.

that being said, I dont actually have any ideas for his name yet. So I wanted to ask, whats a name you really like? A name you might have chosen for yourself, but didn't? Extra points for A) not being a stereotypical trans masc name (e.g. Kai, Theo... no hate to my Kais and Theos but I want something else!) B) being slightly or very unusual. But not like "top ten unusual baby names for boys... number one Ashleigh" give me whatever name you think is underused and cool!

Thanks in advance my brothers 🙏

first AA meeting

hiya. Im a 24 year old man, ive been alcohol free for 5 years, but ive never been to an AA meeting. In general it doesn't really seem like my vibe, but I've had a wobble lately so I've decided to go check it out. Is there anything I should know? I'm in the UK if that makes a difference.

Low T and weight gain?

I was reading this post this post on the sub about weight gain on T, and i wanted to ask a more specific question about all of your experiences that may be similar to mine. This is regarding T levels being lower than medically expected whilst on THRT.

I've now had my second endocrinology blood tests completed whilst on T shots. I started T on gel, Jan 2025, and my levels were ideal, but since moving to shots (once every 3 weeks) my t has been low on my blood tests. I have been experiencing satisfactory changes on T, in terms of my muscle mass, voice pitch, facial/body hair, so I assume my levels are fine in the first two weeks or so, and then my T drops before the next shot and thats when the blood test captures it. I expect my endo will move me to fortnightly shots and this will be resolved.

However, i have been gaining weight steadily for a number of years. There are several reasons, the most significant one being i have a heart condition that makes exercise/cardio extremely difficult— many days I cant even stand up very long. This, along with starting HRT, eating a varied and normal amount, working from home, etc, means I keep gaining weight.

Because there are so many things that could cause weight gain in my situation, i wanted to hear about other trans guys. If you had a period of low T, did you experience some weight gain from it? More than usual early HRT weight gain? I AM experiencing the other expected side effects of fucky hormone levels— fatigue in the week before my shot, mood swings, etc.

Thanks for any insight and experiences you want to share. Please be kind in the comments and don't make patronising comments about how I should go about losing weight. I have my own plans, and that's not the focus of this post. I also have a developmental disability, and sometimes do not write very clearly, to feel free to ask me to clarify the details of what I'm curious about.
