Help me plan my fence line!

I have about 15' x 5' on the north side of our rear fence that I'd like to do something with. We currently have a few raised beds, a small berry patch, a few fruit trees, a vermicompost setup, and natives. We get a significant squirrel population along the property lines. Anything people recommend?

I upcycled a belfry a neighbor was tossing into a bee hotel!

Filled it with a couple walnut branch pieces drilled from about 5/64″ to 1/2″ in diameter and about 3″ to 8″ deep. I also included some pithy stems from sunflower, elderberry, grape for fiber and nesting materials.

Converting this cupola into a bat house?

What should I do if so--I'd take out the wire mesh on the inside of the slates, but do I need to add anything? Is this an appropriate way to upcycle this?

What should I do with this cupola and weathervane?

We have young kids and are into gardening--I was thinking something like a bee hotel?

Ate lunch at a restaurant with a two-acre pollinator garden and left with some native seeds!

A collection of showy milkweed, goldenrod, sage, and blue-eyed grass.

The city cut down an amazing old oak at the playground a couple years ago, so I'm stepping in

I'm starting to mulch the roughly 150 square feet space in anticipation of planting this winter.

I'm taking over a 12'x12' public park space. What should I plant?

Space is about 150 square feet in Sacramento. The city cut down a wonderful Coast Live Oak two years ago and it doesn't look like it's going to be replanted, so I'm going to step up.

What part to use to connect washing machine hose?

I have a Miele W1 washing machine that I'd like to connect to a laundry-to-landscape greywater system. The washing machine drain hose is just slightly too small for the existing fitting--what should I use to connect them?

Questions on lighting and cabinet boxes

Hi all, I have two questions:

  1. The prior owners remodeled the kitchen in this 1937 house and added Thermafoil cabinet facing on MDF doors. This facing is failing and my plan is to just to buy new cabinet doors. Do the existing cabinet boxes look good enough to re-use, or is this project going to require replacing the entire boxes?

  2. The kitchen has little natural light (see the pictures with the ceiling light on and off). I think this ceiling light should be replaced with something that provides additional light, perhaps a curved track light that has downward spots? Any suggestions?

tl:dr the tribe that operates Cache Creek Casino is trying to stop another tribe from building a casino in Vallejo by bribing the Department of the Interior.
