I'm curious, what do we make of people who are "genuinely" "saved"?

I'm talking about people who maybe have had some rough things happening in life but then that largely goes away when they accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior.

Take Vincent Carter for example, he had been bullied for having microtia when he was young and that horrible insecurity stuck with him for 40 years, but when he apparently started taking his faith seriously he felt saved and he soon genuinely let go of the insecurities he had for so long.

Should we feel happy for these people that they got something good of religion or are they just delusional?

Here's a brief summary of his story for anyone wanting more context
