As a child, you were rescued from a demon attack on your town by demon hunters. Ever since, you've dreamed of becoming one yourself. In an alternate timeline, you did. But it didn't last long.

Like so many others who become an adventurer, your life was cut tragically short. Your death at the hands of demons caused your brother, Nathan—an aspiring musician—to give up on his musical dreams and become a demon hunter. This was a long, long path that ultimately led to him becoming The Plague, the ultimate embodiment of chaos and destruction. Not even the gods stood a chance at stopping it. It travelled from realm to realm—growing more powerful with each person it killed—and snuffed out almost all known life. Once it ran out of things to kill, its energy slowly radiated away until it too died. And you were the seed to this universal tragedy.

Now, somehow having this knowledge before you've even started adventuring, you're faced with a moral dilemma. Should you continue with your dream of becoming a demon hunter knowing what will happen if you died? Or should you give up on your dream for the greater good of all life?

Keep in mind that just because this happened in an alternate reality doesn't mean it'll happen again in yours. You aren't destined to die unless you literally repeat everything you did in the previous timeline exactly the same way. Just know that your brother causing the end of the universe after your death is a possibility.

Emma[Angel]: "Probably torture. People can do all kinds of brutal and dehumanizing things to you if you're at their mercy."

Atlas: "Sure, but I mean specifically."

Yanalyn[Elf]: "I think being dismembered is pretty high on the list. You're quite literally reducing a person down to their individual parts. They lose their identity and become an arm, a leg, or whatever other part of them is found."

Doug[Human]: "That's bad but being fooled has gotta be the most embarassing. Imagine getting lured into an ambush by a prostitute and getting robbed and shot—probably after wetting yourself and begging for your life. Your legacy is being a desperate horndog who got duped because they were thinking with the wrong head.

Atlas: "Okay, okay. That's pretty humiliating."

Doug: "Extremely humiliating. If this happened to my brother, I wouldn't even go to his funeral."

Atlas: "..."

Emma: "..."

Yanalyn: "..."

Doug: "Hypothetically speaking."

It's your turn.

What do you do?

Chloe: "There's no pepperoni. We'll have to go without."

You: "That sucks."

Valery: "Maybe we don't have to. There's a pizza in the freezer, right?"

Chloe: "...Yeah?"

Valery: "Maybe we can borrow the pepperonis and put them back later."

Chloe: "..."

You: "..."

Chloe: "Val, that's a stupid idea."

Valery: "But why?"

Is Valery a hidden genius? Or is this just another one of her dumb ideas?

Who do you side with?

A robot named Your Salvation has single-handedly defeated the entire Russian military. It has now set its sights on your country. It urges you to prepare your best defense; as it prefers dense groups of people over sparce populations. You ask why it's doing this. It says that it wants to permanently end all human suffering, and that the complete extermination of mankind is the only way to achieve this. You attempt to point out the flaws in its logic, but it rejects your criticism—insisting that its logic is perfect—and cuts communication. It's only a matter of time before it attacks.

Do you stand against it in an attempt to stop it, knowing that your people will suffer heavy casualties with no guarantee of success? Or would you evacuate as many citizens as you can, hoping some other country steps in to stop it?

It's a beautiful day to get some sun. You're relaxing on a bench when a middle-aged woman stands awkwardly nearby.

Woman: "The sun's just awful today. Maybe it wouldn't be so bad if I were younger."

You: "..."

Woman: "..."

You: "..."

Woman: [Sighs] "What am I doing? I'm too old to be wearing something like this."

You: "..."

Woman: "..."

You: "..."

Woman: "Oh, boy. What I'd give to be young and attractive again."

You: "..."

Woman: "..."

You: "..."

This lady's gotta be a world-champion fisherman. Fisherwoman? Fish person? Yes, that's the one.

Do you give her the compliments she so desperately wants? Or do you ignore her and continue enjoying your day?

What do you do?

You wake to the sound of knocking. It's your daughter.

Your Daughter: "Mom? Are you in there?"

You: "Yes, sweetie. What's wrong?"

Your Daughter: "Nothing. Sorry mom."

Kids, huh? You sit up and use your phone for a bit. About thirty minutes later, you hear the knock again.

Your Daughter: "Mom? Are you in there?"

You: "Yes. I haven't gone anywhere. What do you need?"

Your Daughter: "I don't need anything."

You: "You wanna come in?"

Your Daughter: "No. I'm gonna go play with my toys."

You sigh. Kids can be so wacky sometimes. You go back to using your phone. But after a while, you start to feel weird. Some strange memories start flooding back to you—memories of a child-like demon biting you... envenomating you. That's not your daughter. You've never had a daughter.

You were bitten by a child-demon—a small, child-like demon who's venom brainwashes the host into thinking the demon is their child. The host then takes care of the demon and is regularly envenomated by the demon to maintain the spell. But now the venom has worn off and you know the truth. You hear a knock at the door.

"Your" Daughter: "Mom? Are you in there?"

Your heart is racing and so is your head. You say nothing.

"You" Daughter: "Mom?"

You realize that you have to speak. You need to give the illusion that you're still under her spell.

You: "Uh... yeah. I'm still in here, sweetie."

"Your" Daughter: "Are you sure?"

You: "..."

"Your" Daughter: "I don't believe you."

The door is unlocked. You're laying in bed. You can get up to lock it, but there's no way she won't hear you. Maybe you should try something else.

What do you do?

Demons are not allowed to leave the underworld, but do so frequently. And when they do, they commit the most horrific and disgusting crimes against humanity that you can imagine. There's a new tragedy every day. Last night, an entire family—including the children—was tortured and eaten alive by a group of demons. And they're just one of many. After being driven mad by the endless news stories, you decided to arm up and fight back. You didn't expect to live long, being a normal human. But if you come up with a good plan and play your cards right, you're surprisingly capable.

After a successful attack on a demon hideout, there's just one demon left and you're seconds away from finishing him off. He's bleeding out on the floor and you're reloading your shotgun. With nothing to lose, the demon decides to ask a question.

Demon: "Why do humans hate us?"

You: "..."

Demon: "It seems like no matter what, humans hate us just because we're demons. Why? Why are humans so hateful?"

You: "..."

There isn't a hint of sarcasm in his voice. He's serious. He legitimately does not know why humans hate demons.

What do you do?

You've been here since childhood. You didn't know it was a cult back then, but as you grew older, you came to realize that this community couldn't possibly be normal. But that didn't bother you. These people are the only family you've ever known... Or so you thought. The cult's goddess and idol, a 10 year old girl named Maddie, is actually a 77 year old witch. While touching someone, she can completely alter all of their memories—erasing ones she doesn't want and implanting ones she does. By doing this, she can reprogram people to believe whatever she wants them to. And yes, she has done this to you and all her other cult members.

Despite it not being the wisest decision, you confront her out of sheer disbelief. With a twisted smile, she immediately confirms your suspicion. She says that you're too smart for your own good, and offers her hand to you for her to "fix her mistake." You ask why you'd accept. She says to spare yourself the pain. Your previous life isn't a distant memory. It's gone. Completely. She erased every single bit of it. Memories that have been erased can never be recovered. This is permanent. No matter how much therapy you receive, you will never remember anyone or anything from your previous life.

If you take her hand, she can erase this painful realization and you can go back to life with your unofficial family in the cult. Or, you can reject her offer and go your own way. Maybe you want revenge against Maddie. Or maybe you just want to escape and rejoin normal society.

The law restricts horns that sharpen to a "dangerous point." If the law passes, anyone with horns must make sure their horns are rounded at the ends. Horned people are protesting against this law; calling it government overreach. People who support the law claim it's for public safety. You haven't picked a side yet but you go to a protest with your friend Kat. Kat is a demihuman, which is a human with minor animal features. Kat is indistinguishable from a normal human except a pair of 5 inch horns on her head. She has an exchange with a counter-protester.

Protester: "Why do your horns NEED to be sharp?"

Kat: "I like them that way. They look neat, clean, and well-maintained. They're my horns. Why can't I wear them the way I want?"

Protester: "Because we live in a civilized society. You can't just walk around with spikes on your head."

Kat: "But they're part of my body! Part of my identity—my culture. How would you feel if it was illegal for you to have long hair?"

Protester: "That's different."

Kat: "No it's not."

Protester: "You can't stab someone with your hair, unlike horns. Is your 'culture' really worth the safety of those around you?"

Kat: "You're acting like this is some kind of national emergency. There aren't rampant horn stabbings all over the country. It's a non-issue that's not worth restricting the bodily autonomy of an entire group of people."

You get the point. This goes on for a while. Now that you've gotten a taste of both arguments, who will you side with?

You just happen to stumble upon your angel friend Emma sitting against a tree. You go to greet her when you discover that she's crying. But of course, this just makes you want to talk to her more.

She's hesitant to tell you why she's crying, but through some gentle prodding, you manage to convince her. A small town was a cult's base of operations. The cult members worked with a powerful underworld demon gang in exchange for money—acting as spies and aiding in the coordination of the gang's operations. But not everyone was involved. It's like a high-crime area in any other part of the world. Most of the people there want no part in the chaos and are just trying to live their lives. But unfortunately, the plan to deal with the cultists was far from popular.

Emma and dozens of other angels were given orders to massacre the town. No survivors. As a cover-up, the destruction of the town would be blamed on the demons with the idea that the townsfolk outlived their usefulness and became a liability. Hundreds of innocent deaths, but the gang loses a major asset that makes it harder for them to continue operating outside the underworld. This has already happened. The town has been destroyed, and the guilt of Emma's actions weigh heavily on her conscience.

Would you offer her consolation? Or would you shun her for her cruelty?

What do you do?

You're thirsty, so you go to the fridge and grab a water bottle. It's a strange looking bottle and an obscure brand you've never seen before, but that's about what you'd expect considering where you are. It's very clean and refreshing. You quickly finish one and decide to have another. Remi, your elven princess friend, walks in while you're drinking it. The bottle catches her eye, but she seemingly ignores it and starts doing something else.

You: "Good morning."

Remi: "Oh, shut up."

You: "..."

Remi: "Greedy, bloodsucking pig... Do you have any idea what you're drinking? That's not Dasani you fucking twat."

You: "..."

Remi: *Sighs* "Fucking clueless peasant... drinking all of my water... Expensive water, too! That's a numbered-series. They only make a thousand bottles a year. Those are $200 a piece, asshole. You can't even buy them in this country."

You: "..."

Remi: "'No, I'm not satisfied with one bottle of water that's way too fucking good for me. I'll have two!' Gods... 'Good morning.' Yeah, I bet it was. Guest of the year."

You: "..."

She finishes what she came to do and begins walking away.

Remi: "Enjoy my expensive water. Fucking heathen..." She leaves the kitchen.

Well... that was bizarre. Maybe you should repay her? She didn't ask for compensation, though. Maybe you should just forget about it.

What do you do?

You must press one of two buttons. Both buttons do the same thing—ruin the life of the target and leave them with nothing left to lose. The target will know that you're responsible for ruining their life and you should expect them to retaliate. Here are the two targets.

• Viirkor

○ Viirkor is a demon, and is therefore incapable of feeling love or empathy. He has a reputation so horrific and disgusting that even other demons look down upon him. His favorite thing to do is torture captured angels.

• Goddess of Vengeance

○ She is the literal goddess of vengeance. The only comforting detail is that she's not a demon.

Of the two choices, who's button would you rather push? Yes, you can press both buttons. Yes, this will result in both targets wanting revenge against you. No, there is no benefit to pressing both buttons. You're only required to press one. However, both buttons will be automatically pressed if you refuse to make a decision in a reasonable amount of time.

You risked it all to pull yourself out of poverty. If you had've gotten a return on your investment, it would have been tens of thousands of dollars—more than enough to start a business and start working for yourself instead of working a dead-end job. But fate was not on your side. You lost everything. And now without transportation, that meant your job, too. Trapped at the bottom, pulling yourself up seems nigh-impossible. You can barely scrape together enough money to feed yourself. But you receive a grim glimmer of hope in the form of a rumor on the street.

A small shop in town is owned by a young woman named Lila. She comes from a middle-class family and is doing pretty well for herself. However, she has a major flaw. Lila is a demihuman, which is a human with minor animal features. As far as you can tell, Lila has no visible animal features, but she is part sheep. Sheep demihumans are known for being pushovers. They can't handle confrontation and can be manipulated fairly easily if someone is persuasive enough. Rumor has it, several people have persuaded Lila to give them huge discounts on her products. Some have even gotten things for free.

And because she's giving these things away as opposed to them being stolen, it isn't against the law. If you can bring yourself to bully some poor shopkeeper into giving away her wares, you could sell them on the street and pull yourself out of homelessness. Otherwise, you'll need to find some other way to dig yourself out of this hole. Would you do it?

A while ago, your roommate Archie asked for your help in reminding her to take her ADHD medication due to her long history of failing to do so. She either procrastinates until she forgets to take it or never remembers to take it in the first place. You agreed to help and now it's time for another dose. She's laying on the couch using her phone.

You: "Hey, it's time to take your medicine."

Archie: "Okay, I swear I'll get up right after this. It won't take long at all."

You: "Alright."

About 45 minutes later, you come back and she's still on the couch.

You: "You take your medicine?"

Archie: "Fuck. It slipped my mind again. And I started something that can't pause. But I won't just lay here. I'm gonna jog in place as a reminder for whenever I get a chance."

She gets up and starts stepping in place, not jogging.

You: "I... Okay."

You check on her again 30 minutes later. She's laying back down.

You: "You take your medicine?"

Archie: "I can't take it on an empty stomach. There's food here but nothing really all that good. I kinda wanna go out to eat. What about you?"

You: [Sighs] "I guess. Sure. Let's go."

You two go out to eat. You and Archie finish your meals and you pop the question again.

You: "You wanna take your medicine now?

Archie: "Well... taking it makes me really sleepy. It's still pretty early in the afternoon. I didn't really want to cut my day so short like that. We're already outside the house. Maybe we can hang out for a bit?"

You: "..."

What do you do?

Your friend is an angel named Emma. She's served mankind for over 200 years and is visiting you because she needs your help.

Emma: "Someone posted this here." She shows you a social media post on her phone. "It says that you can cure any disease by taking rat poison. You may not know this but rat poison isn't just poisonous to rats. It's very poisonous to humans, too. And if you eat it, it could kill you."

You: "..."

Emma: "Naturally, I commented to point out how dangerous this misinformation is, but no one is taking me seriously. This one guy in particular called me a 'dumb bitch.' Why do people feel the need to say things like that? Is there anyway I can find this guy?"

What do you do?

It wasn't easy getting to the top. The blood of some is easy to wash away. The blood of others stain more than just your blade. Life doesn't give many choices to people like you. Often just two—live or die. You've gotten very good at living. Finally—after what seemed to be an endless winter—the fruits of your labor have bore and blessed you with wealth and a good name. Elven King Aedenborough has sent you a personal request for assistance. You head to his palace.

Aedenborough: "Thank you for responding to my request, hero."

You: "It's an honor, your highness."

Aedenborough: "I need you to search my palace and collect 10 stars. Then bring them back to me for a reward."

You: "..."

Aedenborough: "..."

You: "..."

Aedenborough: "..."

You: "I'm sorry, your highness. Is this a joke?"

Aedenborough: "Nonsense. I do not know what I would do without my stars. You must collect them, hero. Use the minimap for guidance."

You: "..."

All you have to do is press a button and you will magically stop an entity known as The Plague from coming into existence.

The Plague used to be a demon hunter named Nathan. Slowly dying of a disease, he sought to save himself, but nothing he tried worked. Out of options, he performed a ritual to become undead—temporarily staving off a true death but remained as a dying entity. On the brink of yet another death, he cursed himself with an ability to absorb the energy and soul of anyone he killed. Fearing that he'd lose control of himself and destroy the world, he entered a one-way portal to the underworld and began killing demons to save his life.

Every demon he killed made him stronger, but also merged his soul with theirs. After killing numerous demons, he lost himself. But kept killing. He slowly became a smaller and smaller piece of himself until he was but a speck in a sea of demons. This new entity—a collection of millions of souls screaming for death and destruction—is called The Plague. It is the single most powerful entity to ever live and continues grow to stronger as it massacres the underworld. As demons flee to Earth for their own safety, it's only a matter of time before The Plague finds its way as well. And if that happens, absolutely nothing—not even all the gods at once—could stop it.

You could press a button that erases The Plague from existence, but that button will release a different entity from the underworld—Phoebe. Phoebe is a 10 foot tall lion demon and is widely considered to be the strongest demon alive. She's nigh-invulnerable, can summon portals anywhere she can look—making it almost impossible to escape her—and worst of all, has the ability to explode the heart of anyone who can see her glowing red eyes. She can and has used this ability to instantly kill thousands of people so that she could eat the corpses.

In a momumental, months-long effort, the gods lured and trapped her inside the underworld because they were unable to kill her. By pressing the button, you will release her back into the world and literally everyone will know it was you. Your story of stopping an unstoppable wave of death will sound psychotic and you will simply have to deal with whatever consequences come your way.

Or, you could do nothing, walk away, and pray that you can make peace with life before The Plague escapes the underworld.

You really want to become a demon hunter, and was given an incredible opportunity to go with legendary angel Emma to destroy a demon stronghold. But you failed to impress her.

Emma: "So... you're definitely more powerful than a normal person, but you aren't quite at the level where you could be a demon hunter without getting yourself killed."

You: "Okay, how can I get better?"

Emma: "You can't change your mana density."

You: "..."

Emma: "..."

You: "So..."

Emma: "Maybe try a different career path? You'd be a great city guard."

You: "I don't want to be a cop. I want to be a demon hunter."

Emma: "I'm sorry."

You: "Maybe I can keep coming with you—try and learn something?"

Emma: "It's too dangerous."

You: "I could wear armor?"

Emma: "Mmnn..."

You: "There's no way I can help?"

Emma: "..."

You: "..."

Emma: "I mean... you could do my laundry."

You: "..."

Chloe

Responsible for the deaths of thousands of people—many being civilians. Chloe fights for her faction in a post apocalyptic Earth. Another faction declared war against her and her people. Chloe believes that peaceful negotiation can only go so far because people are swayed by action, not words. On the one hand, the death and destruction she causes depresses her—especially when she sees the aftermath. On the other hand, she hates the enemy for forcing her to commit the atrocities she does.

Valery

Loves Chloe unconditionally. Valery is the leader of Chloe's faction and Chloe is her figurative "knight in shining armor." Valery is an avid pacifist—completely refusing to have anyone killed and pleading with Chloe to change her ways. But while Valery is horrified by Chloe's actions, she sees the humanity in her and is a constant source of emotional support. She truly believes that Chloe can change for the better and refuses to give up on her—no matter how horrific Chloe's crimes against humanity are. Valery will always be there to support her with a hug and comforting words.

Now your neck hurts. You overslept, too. Must have turned your alarm off in your sleep again. Oh wait, your phone is gone. That's it. That's why you didn't hear your alarm, silly. You check everywhere you think it could possibly be. Nothing. You think you may have lost it somewhere outside the house. But before you go on a scavenger hunt, you decide to check your security cameras. Yes, your home has security cameras. Hopefully, that $4,000 investment will finally do more than give you piece of mind.

Except... that's not what happens. The footage shows a shadowy group of masked men silently picked open your front door while you were asleep on the couch. Inside, they sedate you with a strange vapor machine. Then, they pick you up, lay you on the floor, and turn you over onto your belly. With several tools, they saw away at the back of your skull, remove your brain, and drop it into a trash bag. They insert a small device that appears to be a CPU into your cranial cavity, close your skull, and put you back on the couch. They throw away their gloves and other trash in the same bag as your brain, clean any evidence of their existence, take your cellphone, and leave.

You touch the back of your head and feel the long scar across it. You're... dead. You're just a digital copy of yourself. No... How can you be sure about that? You could be a copy of some random person. Or an AI on a chip. Who are you? What are you? Why did they do this? Should you call the police?
