Cat pee getting on top of enclosed litter box

I recently got my cat a new stainless steel litter box. It is a similar design to the litter box she had used for years previously. This new litter box has an option for a top entrance/exit, which she does not use. She goes in and out through the front door which is what her old litter box had.

I’ve noticed urine collecting in the hinge of the top door. At first, I found this to be strange and annoying to have to clean, but not the end of the world. Today, however, I found some urine had collected in the litter mat underneath the box. It looks like pee had gone through the hinge of the top door and behind the box - since I saw some dribbled urine on the top/back of the box.

I have put some tape on the hinge door from the inside and outside for now to prevent more leakage - but will need to replace this tape daily until finding a better solution. Any ideas on ways to keep the urine inside?

Also, I am so confused how the pee is even getting up there. Is my cat going completely head down butt up and shooting her stream up to the ceiling??

Any ideas welcome to help me figure this out!

I have attached photos of where the urine is collecting, and her new litter box next to her old litter box

Experiences With Apartment Valet Parking

Hi,

Looking at apartments in New Rochelle - but a lot of them are valet parking which is very concerning to us. Can anyone give some insight on how their experience with this has been?

Specifically interested in The Leaf, but the valet parking was a big drawback.

Would appreciate any feedback on this experience or if there may be any other 24/7 parking options nearby
