What would this receptacle be used for?

This Hubbell outlet was installed in my garage, but never hooked up to panel. It is 30A, 240 . What would it normally be used for?

How do charging stations control EVs that don't leave once charged

Suppose an EV owner plugs in and then goes to a movie. Car is fully charged well before movie ends. . I see FLO chargers at our train station. I sometimes wondered if owners plug in and then head off to Toronto for the day?

Some chargers charge by the hour. Others by KWh. Presumably they must continue to charge a fee even although no energy is being transfered?

Cost per hour, kWH and idle time should be posted similar to gas stations. Mind you, I think cost might be hih if you decided to park and lock your ICE car next to gas station pumps ;)

Flo Notification

I have only used Flo once while trying to figure out how to use it with our new Chevy Bolt.

Tonight, with our car parked in our garage, I received a notification from Flo showing that charging was taking place. It was live and showed the kwh added increasing.

Obviously not our car being charged. Has anyone else had this experience?

I did take a screenshot and sent it to Flo.

What do owners do about warranty coverage after 3 yrs

I see a number here buying used Bolts. Many would be well beyond the 3 yr bumper to bumper warranty and some now beyond the 8yr battery warranty.

We have had our 2027 for 1 day! Declined an extended GM EV warranty for now. When we approach 3 yrs, we might want to buy extended coverage.

For those buying used Bolts, what do you do? Just take a chance on failures of the expensive electronics or drives?

Any concerns about parts availability for the early models (and the new ones once production ends)?

2027 Bolt extended warranty

We were upsold and signed for a GM Protection Plan (Schedule A) to extend the warranty to 8 years. On reading the details once I got home (we don't have car yet), I found that the Protection plan was for the full 8 years (not +5yrs) It also included battery coverage for 8yrs, but limited to a maximum of $10,000 (batteries cost $15-$25k?) This "protection plan" was going to cost us about C$4000.

New car has 3 years full warranty. Extension would have duplicated main warranty for first 3 years and we would have been paying for that.

New car battery already has 8yrs warranty. So how could the Protection plan have a limited warranty over same period? Again we would have been paying for that.

Something screwy here!

I asked the dealer to delete the Protection Plan, which they have now done.

Can't understand how they could have two warranties running in parallel for same 8yr period.
