PhD to a technician ( core/ teaching/ core)

Hi everyone,
I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who went into a technician role after completing their PhD.
What was the transition like for you? Did you ever feel that taking a technician position was a step down after completing a PhD, or did you see it as a different career path with its own advantages?
I’d also be interested to hear what you enjoy about the role and what you find challenging or frustrating. For example, how do you find the level of responsibility, opportunities for progression, work-life balance, and the day-to-day work compared with what you were doing during your PhD?
If you made the move from a PhD into a technician role, would you make the same decision again? And has the role opened up any opportunities that you hadn’t anticipated?
I’m considering this route myself, so I’d really appreciate any honest experiences, both positive and negative. Thanks in advance!

Cancer support

I need some gentle advice from those who have been through cancer treatment. My mom is currently fighting cancer, and we just found out a relative passed away from cancer.
I'm feeling heartbroken for my mom and for us, and I want to understand and support her better. If you have been in treatment and heard similar news about someone close to you, how did it affect you? What helped, and what did you need from family in that moment?
Please only share if you feel comfortable. Sending love and strength to everyone fighting.
