Starting a casual Thursday pub social aimed at 20s/30s in Southend - anyone interested?

Southend's got walking groups, cycling clubs, over-35s socials... but not many chill groups to meet a few people/ have a drink.

Hence, I'm looking to start up a group- same pub, same time every week or two, show up whenever.

It'll start if 20 people are interested within 3 weeks, so nothing locked in yet. But I'm about half way there, which is good!

Saw a post on here recently from someone looking for activities in Southend- which is quite reassuring for this post. Also still undecided whether it should be the elms or the last post.

AI job searching apps seem to mismatch

I ran a CV through an AI job matcher and it suggested a shop assistant role even though the CV was for comms. I got curious why this keeps happening with AI job tools.

Anyone else run into this kind of mismatch? And any that don't?

Is there a AI job search app that can find jobs that are good fits?

I tested several AI job search tools against my own CV to see which find good-fit roles, and I found that most either auto-apply everywhere or don't seem any better at searching than a job board.

Curious if others have felt this.

Accuracy of AI job searching sites?

I tested 5+ AI job search tools (Jobright, Sonara, LazyApply, JobCopilot, etc.) against my own CV to see which find good-fit roles. I found that most auto-apply everywhere or match on keywords.

From what I found, nobody seems to have made one that matches accurately yet. Curious if others have felt this.

One week post-launch: what I learned, and why round one ends in total failure

Demo for This Means Robbery has been up about a week now, so this is more of a devlog.

Quick premise: reskin of my last VN (This Means War) - but this time teams compete to steal a holy relic hidden beneath a cathedral.

>!The demo follows Team Eco through their planning and their first attempt - and it ends in a total wipe (which you can't yet prevent). This is because if there's maximum 3 heist attempts, drama dictates that the first 2 rounds must fail.!<

Practically, the demo is a proof of concept (see if itch/users like the game). And what I learnt was to, in future, plan how I'd promote a game before putting it online (eg preparing posts in advance). Like this, the initial spike can be bigger which I believe itch prefers.

Reskinned my last VN's entire engine into a heist game - same assets, new text, here's what changed.

My last game, This Means War, was a dark-comedy game-show VN where teams get shot (in a simulation within a game) in a last-team-standing elimination.

I wanted to test if changing the text/story would have a big effect, so now:

teams compete to steal a holy relic hidden beneath St Cuthbert's tomb in Durham Cathedral. One team (the Theology Students) defends it with home-turf advantage and a day's head start to rig the place. The other five get three attempts each.

Side Project- Made a New (Robbery) Game From Existing Assets

So the data from my first game hinted that people steadily got bored as the game progressed, so I decided to make a new one with a completely different story and some minigames (reusing the images to save a lot of time).

Basically a bunch of students try to rob a cathedral on live tv.

Thoughts About a Battle Royale Visual Novel

Hello,

I've got lots of analytics for my game This Means War, but I don't really know what players are thinking when they play. It would be really useful to have a couple of people play just the first 5 minutes and comment what they're really thinking.

There's a browser version available for speed: https://jay-650.itch.io/this-means-war

Note: willing to swap feedback- happy to test your game if you have one and I can run it (be aware my pc is quite weak).

Demo Updated- Want to Get Feedback for Battle Royale Visual Novel

Main edit: I've rewritten some scenes to make them more engaging.

I'd particularly like to know:

When if at all do you get bored?

Do you see it as too AI?

Other suggestions for how to improve future versions/ for my next game?

This Means War & Poseidon

Game title: 2 visual novels- see title.

Unusually, neither are dating sims, hence I need to be careful about who might play.

Playable link: https://jay-650.itch.io/this-mea

ns-war

And https://jay-650.itch.io/poseidon

(Second needs code: my_game_211)

Description: Fight for control of a uni, work out if an AI is secretly deceiving you or not (randomly decided each game)

I want to find out how far along people get before getting bored, and how to improve either game

Web for Poseidon. I plan to compile web version for other as well soon
