puppy crate training

i adopted a 2 month old puppy with my boyfriend and am wondering how to survive crate training throughout the night. our puppy was fostered before us so knows to go to the bathroom on pee pads luckily. he isn’t fully vaccinated so we have about 2 weeks until he’s ready to go outside fully. he sleeps through the night for a few hours then starts crying. we usually let him cry it out but he starts barking so we assume he needs to go to the bathroom which he did 1/4 times we walked him to his potty pad. should we allow this behavior or are we giving in to his cries which makes him think he will get let out? he is a good puppy that hasn’t peed or pooped in his crate yet but we’ve only had him for two nights.

also, we keep his crate in our room at night, should we have him in the living room instead or does having him in our room make him feel comfortable?
