Hello! I’m currently 15; and while I certainly won’t be looking for a proper job anytime soon, I’d like to have some options so I know what degrees to pursue and how to get started early if possible. I love art and art history; and I love museums. I’m more than willing to pursue any degrees necessary in order to even be considered for a job in this field, I’d even start early if I had the chance to.
That said, I’ve been doing quite a bit of research on jobs that can relate to art history ( such as archiving, curating, conservation, etc etc. ), but the more I research the less hopeful I get on securing any stable position ( especially given it seems that many jobs are low paying ). I’m skeptical that I’d ever make it to the higher paid positions, as it seems unrealistic to hope for.
When thinking about adulthood, the thing I want most is to live comfortably ( being able to have a nice, well-decorated house and buy clothes I want along with having enough to keep myself alive ); but it doesn’t sound like I’d exactly be getting that if I choose to pursue this path.
Are there any alternatives that still are in a similar realm? Am I being too pessimistic? Some guidance would be appreciated.
Hello! I’m currently working on a L&Co project and while I was able to make the Skull ( found a life-size CT scan that was available as a STL file and 3D printed it; the internet truly has everything ), I cannot for the life of me find a jar with the right dimensions to fit the Skull into.
I’m specifically looking for a plastic jar so it’s less likely to break.
Some Holly designs for you all. :)
( I do take requests if you feel so inclined to ask ).
I noticed some potential clogging in the nozzle so I tried cold pulling a few times. Everything seems to work well enough when I load the filament; but every time I try to print this happens. What do I do?
Hello! I’ve been having a bit of an identity crisis for the past few months regarding my gender. I’m currently trying to decide if I’m actually trans ( FTM ) or just insecure.
In short, I’m not too happy with my external appearance and how I’m perceived by others. When I’m with certain friends, I generally dislike how feminine and meek I think I’m perceived as being. I also dislike the clothes I wear, but that could just be because they are, objectively, not nice or flattering. Part of the reason I think I may be trans is because I want to be perceived as a guy; but I don’t hate my feminine body, so I’m not sure if that counts. That said, I’d love to be able to be perceived how I want to be perceived ( as a guy, preferably dressed in 1910’s attire ), and I can’t exactly do that if I’m a girl, or else I’d look even more stupid than I already do. Is this something ankin to being trans? Or do I just need higher self-esteem or a glow up? What if I’m gaslighting myself? Advice/guidance is much appreciated.
Recently I’ve really started to consider transitioning, but I’m nervous that my reason to wanting to transition is because of my autism, or OCD, or a negative self-image unrelated to gender identity. I am pretty certain I have gender envy ( I see men and often think to myself I wish I could look/sound/act like that. Which, apparently, cisgender girls do not do ). However, I don’t have dysphoria—infact, I don’t really have any problems with my female body except for the fact that I’d also like a male body/physique, but even then, it’s not at all a pressing matter—and that leads me to conclude that I’m “not trans enough”. Additionally, I have autism, which I also feel invalidates my experience.
My sister has said numerous times “You’re not trans, you’re just autistic.”, and I’m worried that she’s right. Furthermore, my mom has also cautioned me away from transitioning due to the downright awful political climate right now.
That said, my mom has gotten me a few boys clothes, but when I wear them, it feels wrong. I think “I can’t be transgender, because I’m me. I’m not the person I want to be.” ( Not sure if this makes sense, but bear with me ).
Also, I’m nervous I’m debating transitioning for the wrong reasons. While I would just love to be perceived as a male ( or, atleast I think I would, given the gender envy ); another factor is that I want to kind of re-invent myself in a sense. Discard all the traits I don’t like by becoming this person or image who I admire. And that, to me, doesn’t sound entirely valid.
Any advice is appreciated!
( EDIT: I have realized that this post has strayed quite a bit from the title, whoops. )
