(Question) My first home theater
Hello, home theater enthusiasts!
Before I buy this setup, I'd love to get some feedback from people with more experience. This would be my first home theater setup.
The system listed below has been stored in a climate-controlled storage unit for the past six months. The seller says everything was working properly before it was put into storage. I asked if I could test it before purchasing, but they said there aren't any electrical outlets available at the storage unit.
- Does this sound like a fair deal?
- Would you be comfortable buying a system that can't be tested first?
- What questions should I ask the seller, and what should I inspect before handing over the money?
Any advice, suggestions, or things to watch out for would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
Details:
— Pioneer Elite VSX-LX101 with remote bundle
— Two R-28 Floor-standing Speakers
— R-12SW Subwoofer
— RC-62 ii Center Speaker
At $500 would it be worth the risk even though I won’t be able to test?
EDIT: This Reddit community was incredibly helpful in making my decision. Before I posted, I thought I was getting an amazing deal and that this was a high-end, top-tier home theater system based on the brand and appearance alone. I learned a lot from everyone's feedback. Thanks to all of you. I’ve decided to pass on this one.
