I'm completely torn between two cars and could really use some advice. I'm coming from an MG ZS Hybrid, so I'm used to the instant response of an electric motor, and I'm looking to switch to a hatchback. One requirement is non-negotiable: it has to be an automatic.

I've found two options on Autohero and can't decide which one to choose.

1. 2020 Mazda 3 2.0 Skyactiv-G (122 hp) – Zenith Trim

Pros:

• A year newer.
• Lower mileage (~77,000 km).
• Traditional 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission.
• I generally prefer the sound and character of a naturally aspirated engine.

Cons:

• I'm worried it might feel a bit sluggish coming from a hybrid with instant torque.
• I'm considering a Stage 1 tune to unlock the engine to around 165 hp, since it's mechanically the same engine as the higher-output version.

2. 2019 Honda Civic 1.5 VTEC Turbo (182 hp) – Prestige Trim

Pros:

• I slightly prefer the styling.
• Plenty of power (182 hp), so performance should never be an issue.

Cons:

• It costs about €2,300 more.
• Higher mileage (~85,000 km).
• The biggest concern is the CVT transmission. One thing that's important to me is enjoying the engine and exhaust sound when accelerating, and I've heard that the CVT tends to keep the engine at a constant RPM, creating that "drone" or "scooter" effect, which really takes away from the driving experience.
• The extra equipment on this trim (leather seats and sunroof) isn't particularly important to me.

My dilemma:

Which one would you choose?

The Honda Civic for its stronger engine and styling, despite the CVT potentially ruining the driving sound and feel? Or the Mazda 3, possibly tuned to around 165 hp, with a conventional automatic transmission, a more natural engine sound, and potentially lower long-term maintenance costs, even if it doesn't have the same low-end turbo punch?

I'd really appreciate any opinions or first-hand experience with either of these automatic models. Thanks!

Estoy en un mar de dudas entre dos coches y necesito vuestra sabiduría. Vengo de un MG ZS Hybrid (acostumbrado a la respuesta inmediata de los motores eléctricos) y busco un compacto para cambiar. Por el tipo de zona por la que me muevo y por comodidad, tiene que ser AUTOMÁTICO sí o sí.

Tengo dos opciones vistas en Autohero y no sé por cuál decidirme:

1. Mazda 3 2.0 Skyactiv-G (122 CV) - Acabado Zenith (2020)

• Pros: Es un año más nuevo, menos kilómetros (~77k), etiqueta ECO (ventaja en mi ciudad), cambio automático tradicional de 6 marchas y el sonido del motor atmosférico me convence mucho más.
• Contras: Me da pánico que se sienta "lento" viniendo de un híbrido con patada. Estoy valorando seriamente hacerle una reprogramación Stage 1 para deslimitarlo y dejarlo en los ~165 CV (ya que comparte el mismo bloque motor que el de 150 CV).

2. Honda Civic 1.5 VTEC Turbo (182 CV) - Acabado Prestige (2019)

• Pros: Estéticamente me gusta un punto más. El motor tiene una fuerza bruta tremenda (182 CV) y no le faltará potencia en ninguna situación.
• Contras: Cuesta 2.300 € más, tiene más kilómetros (~85k), etiqueta C y, sobre todo, lleva caja CVT (variador continuo). Me importa mucho que el coche se escuche bonito al acelerar (el sonido del escape), y me han dicho que el CVT arruina bastante la experiencia acústica al dejar el motor fijo de revoluciones (efecto centrifugadora/scooter). Los extras de este acabado (cuero y techo) no son una prioridad para mí.

Mi gran dilema:

¿Qué pensáis que vale más la pena?

• ¿El Honda Civic por su motor y estética, a pesar de que la caja CVT pueda frustrarme con el sonido del escape?
• ¿O el Mazda 3 deslimitado, ganando en sonido real de escape con su caja automática convencional y costes de mantenimiento, sacrificando la patada del turbo a bajas vueltas?
