SAP Commerce is out for us, what are you all on now?

We kicked off a platform eval when our SAP Commerce mainstream maintenance ended, and there's a lot more to evaluate now than there was a few years back, so posting to see what teams in a similar shape are choosing before we commit.

The eval has been split between composable headless options and retail-native platforms, and for us the core question is whether the headless build-out is worth the engineering investment, since we're running 8 heads across multi-brand and multi-country and implementation scope is a real factor.

Salesforce Commerce Cloud has been the default path from every SI we've talked to, and it's the one we've been spending the most time on, and Scayle came up separately in a thread on here a while back in a discussion about retail-native platforms, and both come with a different trade-off.

One sits inside an ecosystem we're already in across CRM and service, the other was built by a retailer for their own multi-brand operations, so the fashion data model is native before you configure anything.

The SI recommendations and independent architecture experience seem to be giving us pretty different information, so any experience from teams who've made it through a real migration out of SAP Commerce would help.

Appreciate any pointers.

is SikuliX still maintained enough to build on or has everyone moved to something else?

I inherited a SikuliX suite that's been running since 2021 against a windows desktop app, and i have to decide whether to invest in it or replace it. It’s 180 scripts, about 120 still pass reliably, the rest fail on screenshot matches that no longer match. when i dug into the causes it was a windows 11 theme change, a DPI difference between our CI box and the dev machines, and a font rendering change that shifted text by 2 pixels. not one of those is a defect in our product, and all of them cost me a week.

The project isn't dead exactly, there are commits but the documentation is old, most of what you find searching is from 5 or 6 years back, and i can't tell whether the people maintaining it are building or keeping the lights on. We’re wighting it against going back to the accessibility tree with FlaUI. It works properly on maybe 60 percent of our screens and fails completely on the custom drawn ones, which is exactly where SikuliX earns its keep.

Ther are the newer vision based ones like Askui and a few others, which do roughly the job SikuliX does but with a model doing the matching instead of pixel comparison. In principle that's immune to the DPI and font problems that broke us. In practice i would want to know whether it's a different mechanism or the same idea with wider tolerance. Or just keep SikuliX and pin everything.

Has anyone here migrated off SikuliX recently? did what you moved to held up against theme and DPI changes? Thanks for sharing!

Is Adobe Commerce worth it when you're outgrowing BigCommerce?

We're at $23M GMV on BigCommerce Enterprise and the platform has been showing limits on the catalog side.

We carry around 80K SKUs across 2 storefronts, and the past 2 peak seasons were rough at that volume, so the obvious next step recommendation from every agency we've talked to is Adobe Commerce.

When we started pricing it out, it came back a lot more than what they'd been telling us, between the licensing base before you add hosting, the developer rates in the Magento talent market, the security patch overhead that's non-negotiable, and the upgrade cycle if you want to stay on a supported version, and I'm not sure that's a materially better position than where we are on BigCommerce today.

We've been looking at the composable tier too, and both commercetools and SCAYLE come up in pretty much every thread on this, so what did others find when they ran the numbers on Adobe Commerce at this revenue, and was the licensing model worth the trade-offs or did you go a different direction?
