Have lived ridiculously beyond our means since I can remember… recent career moves have allowed my family to be in a position to clear substantial debt ($200k+), and eventually catch up saving/investing after years of living paycheck to paycheck.

Come July of next year, we will be debt free other than our mortgage and have essentially $17K a month remaining after all bills/mortgage is paid.

Like I said, we’ve always been paycheck to paycheck, never saved/invested, so I am trying to prepare as much as I can before I get to that point.

I have not a clue where to put this money monthly to best prepare for retirement, how much of it to save, etc etc.

If there is anyone here in Chicago that wants to and can go to the Foo Fighters and QOTSA concert at Soldier Field tomorrow, I’ve got extra tickets you can have. I’d appreciate if yah don’t be a dick and try to resell them. Let me know.
