I tried the watermelon protein powder, so you won't have to

This sounded so good, in theory, so I snagged a tub during my Aldi run this weekend.

Used it in a smoothie, with added blueberries, milk, and Greek yogurt. Yes, it tastes like watermelon, but it's way too sweet for me. And it's that artificial, sickly sweet taste, that just overpowered every other flavor in my smoothie.

I will definitely not be buying this again, and most likely returning it.

***Okay, so I learned that I should have mixed this with water. I'll try it again, and let y'all know how it goes!

Pizza and Pups!

As a gal who loves pizza, and a Mom of three precious shelter pups, this sounds like the best event ever!

Get a large with as many toppings as you like, and bring home your new best friend as a bonus.

No, Lexington County, we do not want a tax increase to fund this

Do elected officials not understand how much we're all struggling with the rising cost of EVERYTHING? Gas, groceries, life in general?

How do you sit there and try to justify spending $74 million on a sports complex? And paying for it with an increase in property taxes?

This is a huge no from me.

Alzheimer's? Not sure about this one

Anyone who's watched a loved one be stolen away slowly by Alzheimer's knows how desperately we need to find better treatment. This looks promising, but I'm a little put off on how Chinese hospitals just put this out there (for profit?) before the procedure was fully vetted through clinical trials.

Looks like clinical trials are finally being set up, including in the US.

Phone outage

Anyone else having problems making calls today?

Nothing is going through on Verizon, even though I have four bars. Everything seems to be working okay, except for calls.

Sell, or keep?

Today is the day I'm putting my beloved Solara up for sale. About to put the top down, and head to the car wash to get her all prettied up for the last time.

Except, the more I think about it, the more conflicted I am. I just bought another car, and I don't need two cars. Old girl has a few mechanical issues that can be fixed, and could use a few cosmetic touch ups.

Aside from the fact that I'd miss all of you in this sub, I'm not sure I want to let go of the best car ever.

How do we know when to move on from an old car? Anyone ever had seller's remorse?

Genetically modified beagles?

Read this today, and it seems great in theory, but could this be opening the floodgates to more traits that shouldn't be bred into dogs?

The whole "Doodle" concept seemed great at first, but even the guy who started the cross-breed regrets it. There are now "designer" dogs being bred in every back yard by people who are just creating more pets that end up in kill shelters.

I hope this doesn't kick off the same trend. Can we just leave dogs alone and stop creating new mutations?

No replies??

I'm a new mod in a sub that has pretty much dead for several years. I decided to make a post yesterday, and see how it went. It wasn't what I expected.

I have close to 200 views, two up votes, and two shares. But absolutely zero posts, other than my own. Granted, it is a pretty general post, but I'm still puzzled that absolutely noone engaged.

I've tried looking around in the settings, to see if there are any requirements for posting (karma, etc) but I don't see anything. There appear to be no rules at all set up.

I've tried to find some mod guidance on Reddit, but I haven't found any info that applies.

I'm not sure what to make of this, so I figured I'd see if anyone here can shed some light on this.

Spaying?

What's the consensus here on the best age to get a pup spayed? I'm seeing research that waiting til she's 12-24 months old reduces the chances of IVDD later in life.

My girl is almost eight months old, and has a dachshund body. I tend to look at her from a dachshund perspective, health-wise. I've also had a dachshund before, and have dealt with IVDD, and would like to never repeat that experience.

Much as I hate putting off spaying, I'm conflicted on this. I will definitely discuss this with our vet, but wanted to get some feedback here as well.
