BMW M3 Touring vs Audi RS 5 Avant | HOT LAPS Hockenheimring GP

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=78f81dkUTxc Sport Auto tested the new RS 5 Avant against the M3 Touring on the Hockenheim GP race track.

Both cars were equipped with R compound tires (Audi ran P Zero Trofeo R and BMW Pilot Sport Cup 2). In the end the Audi's 109 extra horsepower and extra boost from the electric motors were not enough to beat the M3 Touring which was a whopping 3,7 seconds faster but also weighs 505kg less. (2.370kg vs. 1.865kg)

For such a short track 3,7 seconds is a lot.

Thought this might be interesting for some of you.

TLDW:

Pro BMW:
+ More efficient on Autobahn (130km/h) (21,7 vs. 22,5 kWh)
+ Lighter (same weight with 16kWh bigger battery)
+ Sporty handling
+ Better ADAS, hands-free driving
+ „Normal“ door handles and more physical controls (mirror and steering wheel adjustment not through screen like in the Volvo)
+ Optional head-up display (not available on Volvo)

Pro Volvo:
+ noticeably more quiet on motorway
+ more comfortable suspension tuning
+ premium sound system significantly better
+ 5-10% cheaper depending on configuration
+ materials feel nicer
+ 2,4 ton towing (vs 2 ton on BMW)

Speaker covers on the optional Bowers & Wilkins system in the new X5 are made entirely out of hard plastic

Remember this is the premium option not just the standard one.
