I just received a letter(after over a year) that social security did not accept my offer to settle $26,640 by paying $16,650. The reasons on the letter state: how the over payment happened, my ability to pay, and how close my offer was to the full amount of the overpayment. The letter states says that they might accept an offer that is closer to the amount I owe and I can make another offer by calling the social security. I appreciate if anyone had experience with this type of situation and suggest an amount that may be worth trying again. Thank you
