Mini-Pond "Hoardiculture" for Apartment Dwellers

Mini-Pond 'Hoardiculture' For Apartment Dwellers

An in-ground pond isn't possible for most apartment and condo dwellers. Container water gardening is a viable alternative for patios, balconies, or backyards. A single tub garden can become the focal point of your outdoor space - Or, you can get totally out of control like The Waterlily Bear and build two dozen tub water gardens!🪷🧸🪷

Submersible LED pond lights can be a great addition to your water garden set up! A dirt cheap replacement pump for my bamboo Zen fountain included a little RGB submersible ring light for a color changing glow. Awesome!🪷🌈💡

Plain Old, Boring Old, Typical White Waterlily. (Yawn..🥱)

We've all seen them, out there in the lake or pond. 'Common' plain white water lilies. Why would anyone want to have them sitting around in a bucket on their patio? How ordinary!🫤🤣🪷🧸

Small Tropical Patio/Porch in Costa Rica

Instead of flowers (other than a hanging Fuchsia), I like to mix & match foliage colors, textures, shapes, sizes and patterns. I sit out here every morning to drink tea, listen to the birds, and watch the sun rise.

East facing patio

I want to start a patio garden but mine is east facing is that a problem ? The little tree is a citrus tree I’m trying to salvage that I transplanted from a hydroponic system and it was not doing well in it at all so I transferred to soil . I live in phx az and want to grow veggies and herbs . Any tips or should I end up getting like a green house with a grow light . I’m trying to plan it to be successful and trying to find the best place to place my citrus tree . Help!!!

was i too optimistic?! (patio garden)

hello, wondering if i was too optimistic getting all of these plants last weekend for my 9b east facing patio spot. this spot probably gets morning sun 10am-12/12:30pm. pictures 2 shows the next building that is very tall so it blocks any sun before 10am.

i know this is not nearly enough sun for the specific plants i got.

there’s 1 persian cucumber with some dill and small lettuce, 4 peppers, 1 cherry tomato, more lettuce, spearmint in a separate container with the tomato, some parsley with tomato, and third pic is cilantro with parsley in the north facing spot that does get some afternoon sunset direct sun…but not much. maybe 2 hours.

i fear i got too excited to grow some of my own produce without really thinking about if they’ll survive. if i notice any dying i will definitely gift them away to coworkers that have the property with space and sun that would love any of these.

before these pics i did take off most large flowers that have developed AFTER potting, so within the last week. 2 days of which were cloudy and overcast. i am
under the impression that helps with directing the plant to more foliage and roots rather than all energy going to try and actually produce fruit.

i am also aware if these do grow at all with so little sun, they will outgrow the plant stands i got. but i’ll figure that out later.

i also have been told fish emulsion is the best fertilizer i should use when i do fertilize. i have not gotten that yet. i wanted to see how they do after the first week or two.

any tips/did i mess up big time?!

thanks so much!!
