My brother’s PC started showing weird horizontal lines at the bottom of the screen, basically around the taskbar area.

We first thought it was a cable issue, so we swapped the DP cable and also cleaned the inside of the PC because it was dusty. After that, we connected the PC to my monitor and everything looked completely normal. No lines at all.

So we assumed the problem was fixed somehow. But after reconnecting everything to his own setup, the issue came back after a while.

The strange part is that it’s not constant:

• sometimes the screen is perfectly fine for several minutes
• the artifacts seem to appear again after alt-tabbing
• it only affects the bottom portion of the display

GPU is an RTX 4070 Super.
