I'm a 2nd year beekeeper in Ontario, Canada.
Are these drones being opened on purpose or is it the chalkbrood that is afflicting them?
This colony has chalkbrood and will get over it eventually and I saw a large chalk mummy.
There were no bad smells coming from the hive either. Smelled like a hive and honey.
Started off by going to the nursery I used to work at and catching up with some old co-workers. Grabbed a chocolate vine and asked this gorgeous woman for her number. She said she's married and showed me the ring. Oh well, better luck next time.
Then, I headed up the cottage. Stopped at Tims and got an Oreo iced capp.
At the cottage, checked up on my honeybees and the girls are working hard. Helped my dad put their a/c in the window then worked on digging stairs into the hill leading up to the apiary. Planted the chocolate vine and spread some pollinator mix around the property as well.
Once I got home, grabbed some groceries to meal prep tomorrow and I've got the skewers are the bbq for dinner.
Tomorrow, paddle boarding with two of my best friends.
Fuck yeah.
I think it's so cute and makes feel all good inside.
My girls are so gentle, I barely use any smoke.
