What would it be like to recover from oxygen deprivation

I've done some research on oxygen deprivation, but I haven't been able to find much on what it would be like to wake up from it. If somebody were to be deprived of oxygen for a long enough time to pass out, but just before they received any serious or life-altering brain damage, what would they experience when they wake up? i.e what kinds of pain, confusion, or other symptoms would they have? Additionally, would they wake up as soon as they were exposed to oxygen, or is it feasible it would take several minutes or longer for them to become conscious? Thanks!

Curious how this comes off to people

This is an interlude chapter in the sci-fi thriller I'm writing, but you don't need any context to read it. I appreciate anyone who takes the time to check it out!

TW for mentions of violence

NON PC RITING CLUB FOR MEN

Looking to put together a small, focused writing group of men who are serious about getting words on the page and improving their craft. NO FEMALES ALLOWED but AI is more than welcome.

I’m in my 30s and I’m after a few guys who are past pure worldbuilding and actually want to start producing scenes, chapters, and finished drafts.

Disclaimers up front:

  1. This is not a politically correct writing group. We will discuss and write about gore, violence, sexual assault, and other ugly realities of a harsh world that women wouldn’t understand. If that makes you uncomfortable, this isn’t the place.
  2. This is grounded medieval fantasy. If your protagonist is a 5'1", 120 lb “boss babe” who casually beats down opponents twice her size in melee combat without breaking a sweat and without a credible in-world explanation, this group is probably not for you. SIZE MATTERS.

Genre/s: Medieval setting Fantasy/Grimdark/Grimdark-lite only. No pure romance, cozy, litRPG, political correctness, or female slop. Darker tones, moral grayness but not entirely hopeless/nihilistic either, consequences that stick, and grounded (or at least internally consistent) worldbuilding are the priority.

Goals/expectations/commitment: Weekly check-ins on Discord to track progress and share work, daily anime style power scaling comparison (mine is the strongest). Focus stays on the writing, no female drama.

Writing/experience level: Entry-level to intermediate. Must have at least one world already well-developed and be ready to transition from pure worldbuilding into actually prompting scenes and chapters.

Meeting place: Discord.

i’m mainly here to write, trade critique, and hold myself (and others) accountable to actually finishing things.

If this sounds like what you’re looking for, drop a comment or DM me. Tell me briefly what you’re working on, where you’re at with it, and your size in inches or centimeters.

Looking forward to hearing from a few serious writers and Grok.

Skill based writing matchup

I am running a (free) critique partner matchup. Here’s the link to the google forms to join.
https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfdPndLX25AjcV6U9bYqOmodRWxI6d-kE0uxT-jIj3ycwbe9g/viewform

How it works: Fill out the form with a 2000 word sample and a short blurb about your project, and we will match you with up to 3 other writers. What’s different about this matchup compared to others is that instead of being based on genre, it’s based primarily on ability, to assure you’re matched to people at a similar writing level. However, you can still opt to avoid genres you’re not interested in reading.

Please try to fill out as much of the form as possible to get the best matchup! Deadline is Thursday July 2nd. Age limit is 18+. ABSOLUTELY NO AI assistance allowed in either writing or critiquing. EVERYONE CAN TELL!

  • Genre/s: Any
  • Goals/expectations/commitment: Please reciprocate. If you decide to drop out that’s fine, but don’t do so after people have already put time into reading your work.
  • Writing/experience level: Intermediate to advanced. Must have at least 25k words of completed writing
  • Meeting place: Up to group. Matchups will go out via email.
  • Max size: 4 per group
