I have studied NISM VIII, and now studying CFA level 1. When I look at questions like Q3 and Q4, my brain just hangs. I fail to think anything, I fail to apply logic. I know how puts and calls work. But my brain just stops working. Give me numbers (like Q5), I can do it in minutes. But Q3 and Q4 just hangs my brain up.
Until now, I was just hooked. But this damn chapter. This story of M. Morrel's financial crisis. It is tooo beautifully written. I'll never forget this chapter. It is too good.
It finished me.
It was my first hindi novel. Although I expected it, the last 10-20 pages were something else. Sudden event, hit me like a train.
I had started to develop a reading habit in 2025. I spent the whole year trying to read self-help to build a better personality, character and mind. But the truth is, they're filled with so much garbage, they're not worth reading. Most of them stretch a 1 or 2 page point into a 20-30 page chapter. And for a beginner reading, that might be the worst thing to read. So, as 2025 neared its end, I started reading fiction. I have now read quite a few books, and I read 1h (or more) a day. I also enjoy fiction. I've read great books like 1984, no longer human, the odyssey. Currently reading Gunaho ka Devta while The Count of Monte Cristo is on the way to be delivered.
After reading fiction, I could read self-help. After I finished short novels like white nights, no longer human, animal farm etc, you get the idea, the feel of reading. Then you can read a self-help.
Some self-helps are exceptions, like Robert Greene books. Although lengthy, I like how he explains things deeply. Other books usually lack the depth, but have the lengthiness. Also, philosophical books are also worth reading. Like, The Courage to be disliked, it is a self-help but definitely a worth read.
Also, I watched shows a lot, and played games a lot. I have a deep interest in stories, which might also be the reason why I love fiction so much while I dislike selfhelp.
Edit: In the 2nd para, I included names because they helped ME. But my point is, readers should start with whatever they enjoy. It could be a short novel, or a big novel with easy language, whichever you enjoy.
For those who've lost all hope and wanna quit preparing for FRM, or have a spare calculator. Do you wanna sell your calculator? I'm looking to buy one. :/ The one on Amazon is around 4.3k and 4.1k on flipkart. It is quite expensive to buy new.

It's not like my math is bad...it is that I'm failing to apply the concepts in the questions. Maybe I'm not reading properly, or maybe I didn't get the concepts properly, I don't know. Some advice would be really appreciated.
I'm new to reading. I haven't read long books. 1984 and The Odyssey are the longest books I've read. Should I buy it? Or consider something else?
This is my list of books that I've finished reading. What are the next books that I should read? Suggest only fiction. I'm thinking of A Little Life. But that is 700 pages. Most of the books I've read are short reads.
To the people studying (or cleared) CFA Level 1. I wanna know. What did you actually learn? If you've finished the CFA Level 1 curriculum, what can you do? How do you use it practically so you don't forget the theory later on? I'm in the middle of the curriculum and I feel I'm way behind in practical skills and must spend time learning some.
I'm new to perfumes. I have cheap perfumes, but I don't have any knowledge on good quality perfumes. But I'm interested. Here's my first combo...I hope it's good.
Module 3 of Equity Investments. I usually do the EOC and send the answers to Gemini to review them. Since the ai explains the concepts properly of the wrong answers. This was my first try of Module 3 EOC. Didn't expect this...but it feels good!!!
To the males who have completely stopped masturbating, how do you handle nude scenes in movies and web series? I (19M) was starting to get addicted to porn and masturbation, but I decided to stop it before it becomes a real addiction and starts dictating my life. It has been 10 days, no porn, no masturbation. I was watching a series, and a nude scene bothered me that way. Now, of course despite feeling that way, I know masturbation won't satisfy me, so I won't do it. But I wanted to know...how do you people handle the distractions? I do go to the gym in the morning, I try to improve my diet, and study to focus my energy there. There are so many shows with nudity, that filtering them would mean missing out on a lot of cinema.
