EB-2 vs EB-3 for Accountant — Similar Experiences?

Hi everyone, I’m asking on behalf of a friend.

He has:

  • Master’s in Business/Accounting from his home country
  • MBA from the U.S.
  • 10+ years of accounting experience
  • Currently working as an Accountant in Texas, earning around $80K
  • Employer is willing to sponsor his green card

The PERM process has not started yet — not even the PWD has been filed. However, the immigration attorney is recommending EB-3, while my friend believes he may qualify for EB-2 (PERM-based, not NIW) based on his education and experience.

Has anyone with a similar accounting/finance background, advanced degree, and 8–10+ years of experience successfully pursued EB-2?

If so, what were the requirements listed for your PERM position, and how did you discuss EB-2 vs. EB-3 with your attorney?

Any similar experiences or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Any updates after 8/5 Silent Update + 8/13 FTA0?

For those who had their first silent update on 8/5 and then a new FTA0 event on 8/13, has there been any further movement?

  • Case transferred to a Field Office?
  • I-485J approved?
  • I-485 approved?
  • Another silent update?
  • Any other new event/code?

If you’ve had any update since 8/13, please share your PD, RD, FO (if known), and update timeline.

Trying to see if there’s any pattern among cases with this 8/5 → 8/13 sequence.

New FTA0 + Event ID changes across my and spouse’s cases — anyone else?

Anyone else see this today? My I-485 got a new FTA0 created today with the event date matching my May 5 biometrics date. Event IDs and updated timestamps also changed on my I-765, I-131, and I-485J, and my spouse’s cases had similar updates. Wondering if this is a bulk USCIS update or case-specific.

USCIS Case Status API — Did They Just Removed the Jurisdiction Field?

Looks like USCIS may have just removed the jurisdiction field from the Case Status API response.

Has anyone else noticed this?

GEICO policy with non-relative roommate listed as additional driver – same coverage?

My wife, my non-immediate blood relative (like a brother), and I all live at the same address. My wife and I share one car, and he has his own. We put all three of us on a single GEICO policy covering both cars because it was cheaper. My question is: since he's listed as an additional driver on the policy, does he receive the same level of coverage and benefits as my wife and I if he's involved in an accident while driving a covered vehicle? Or are there any limitations because he's not an immediate family member? Has anyone had a similar setup with GEICO?

Silent update on both my I-485 and spouse's I-485 today. Anyone else?

Just noticed the first silent update on both my I-485 and my spouse's I-485 since our biometrics on 5/5. The update happened on August 5, 2026, around 11:55 PM CDT. Is USCIS doing some kind of bulk internal update, or could this be specific to our case? Has anyone else seen a silent update around the same time? Just being a bit impatient. 😅

Edit: Case Block IOE09363**

Edit 2: Inquire with Emma and case is still at NBC

Has anyone received I-485 approval without any silent updates?

My I-485 has been at NBC since my biometrics on 5/5, and there hasn't been a single silent update, transfer, or interview notice since then.

I'm probably just being impatient, but I'm curious, has anyone had their case go directly from complete silence to "Case Approved" without any prior updates? How common is that experience?

I'd appreciate hearing from anyone who has been through something similar.

Emma said my I-485 is at the local field office — does that mean my interview won't be waived? Is approval close?

Hi everyone,

I filed my employment-based I-485 adjustment of status in the first week of April, along with my derivative applicant.

  • I-485 package received: First week of April
  • Biometrics: First week of May
  • Since then, there have been no updates at all (not even any silent API updates) on my case.
  • My derivative applicant's I-131 had a silent API update, but there has been no approval or any visible status change.

I chatted with Emma this morning, and the live agent told me my I-485 is currently at the local field office.

I'm trying to understand what that actually means.

  • Does being at the local field office usually mean my interview is more likely, or can the interview still be waived?
  • Is a transfer to the local field office generally a sign that the case is in its final stages and could be approved soon, or can it still sit there for months?

Has anyone had a similar timeline where Emma said the case was at the local field office and the interview was waived? How long did it take from that point to approval?

I'd appreciate hearing about your experiences. Thanks!

Anyone with a derivative I-485 seeing slower processing?

I'm seeing many people with a similar RD getting silent updates or approvals, but my I-485 with a derivative hasn't had a single update. Is this common for derivative cases, or am I just unlucky? Anyone else in the same situation?

Am I the only one who doesn't enjoy the celebrity-visit episodes in TMKOC?

Whenever celebrities come to Gokuldham Society, it feels like the episodes are mostly there for movie promotions. The storyline is usually very predictable, and a lot of the comedy ends up being Jethalal getting scolded or embarrassed.

I feel these celebrity arcs rarely have strong or memorable stories compared to the regular episodes. In fact, I enjoyed episodes like the one where Sundarlal brought fake Shah Rukh Khan and Sachin to the society much more. Those episodes felt creative and were actually built around a proper storyline rather than promotion.

Does anyone else feel the same, or do you enjoy the celebrity appearances?

Why doesn’t Popatlal approach Rita instead of chasing every random unmarried girl? 🤔

Popatlal is desperate for marriage, Rita is also a reporter, they already know each other for years, and their profession even matches. Yet bro ignores her completely and falls for every random unmarried girl he meets for 5 seconds 💀

Creating this thread for people with EB-485 receipt numbers starting with IOE09363*** to share updates on their cases.

Please comment with: • PD (optional) • Filing date • Biometrics date • RFEs • Transfers • EAD/AP approval • Interview status • I-485 approval

I filed a concurrent adjustment of status package (I-485, I-485J, I-765, I-131) and completed biometrics yesterday. Today my USCIS status changed to “case is still being processed.”

Previously, all applications were shown under a single concurrent filing group in my USCIS account. Now they appear split into two groups:

  • I-485 and I-485J together
  • I-765 and I-131 together

Is this a normal update after biometrics?

Also, does this separation typically mean the I-765 (EAD) and I-131 (Advance Parole) might be processed and approved before the I-485 (green card), or is it just a display/processing change with no particular significance?

Curious if others have observed the same pattern.
