Is it a blunder?
Have I made the mistake of choosing PIE in NIT JSR over MNIT jaipur metallurgy?

In round 4 I got iet lucknow cse (sf) but I withdrew it because of csab in the hope to upgrade but I didn't get any upgrade in round 2 csab.
As I am from UP
Like for the context: my ex was the one who first approached me. When he initially proposed, I rejected him because I was focused on my board exams and didn't want to be in a relationship. Even after that, he kept trying for almost two years. Every few months, he would text me again, ask through friends, or somehow try to convince me to give him a chance.
I accepted because he had put in so much effort despite living far away. He wrote poems for me, told me he had liked me for 3–4 years, and made me feel like he truly wanted a future with me.
But after we had been together for about two years, he suddenly broke up with me. His reasons were that he couldn't commit anymore, wasn't sure about the relationship, and couldn't handle long distance.
One thing that's been bothering me is that, during our relationship, he once told me, "I cried when you rejected my proposal, and I'll take revenge someday." When I confronted him about it later, he laughed said he was joking and would never do something like that because he loved me.
Now, after the breakup, I keep connecting the dots. He also started college a year before in DU and has received confessions there, so maybe he's enjoying his college life and lost interest in me.
Do people ever stay in a relationship just to get revenge for being rejected in the past? Or am I overthinking because I'm still hurt?

For the context I recently had a breakup, and ex gave me the reason of the breakup after 2 years of being in relationship is that ldr, and he told me that he is uncertain and don't want commitment. If I can move to his city for my college then he can try but not sure about commitment.
