2nd PSA!!

Remember to test your patient’s Zoloft levels regularly folks! It is a “relatively simple procedure!!” Per a well known and a respected psychopharmacologist.

Also, do let your patients suspected of felony use your personal cell phone to call family because of “human compassion”. We are not some cold blooded heartless soul, we are here to help!!

Dr Condine and Dr Zeizel

I apologize that this is another trial related thread, if there is another better place to post I definitely apologize. But I would love to hear people’s thoughts on today’s testimony of Dr Condine and Dr Zeizel. I’m curious to people’s thoughts on the potential education learned from their testimony, the overall consideration of the accuracy of their statements. I was hoping for a chance to learn from everyone’s insights, thanks!

Postpartum treatment resources

Not wanting this to be another trial thread.

But does anyone have good resources on best practice guidelines and/or diagnostic considerations or medication considerations for postpartum situations?

Regardless of the verdict or my personal feelings of the case, I can acknowledge that more education and training in this aspect would be helpful.

Edit: it would be awesome if any of them have CMEs attached 😊

Good place for a 1 year old birthday party venue?

We are looking for a family friendly and children friendly venue for a 1- year old kid in Norfolk-Virginia beach-Chesapeake area. I imagine there will be about 30 people? And probably about 15 kids? I don’t know if there’s a good option that might be more chill and on the clean side and have good food potentially? Any recommendations would be appreciated, thanks!

The opening statements for the Clancy trial

I was wondering if I may get some education on this. The opening statement from the prosecution was much much shorter than the defense. I listened to the Prosecutors podcast and they mentioned that the prosecution had a time limit or something? I just wanted to know if that’s really a thing. But also the defense talked much much longer, so is the time limit only imposed on the prosecution side?

Thoughts on Day 9?

What are everyone’s thoughts on Day 9? What did we learn? What was the prosecution able to accomplish? What did they miss? What did the defense do well on? What did the defense miss? Curious to everyone’s thoughts on today.

Practice improvements from recent case

Given all the scrutiny from the recent Lindsay Clancy case where there is a significant spotlight on psychiatry and medication practices, what are some of the things that we can potentially learn and improve from this case for better care or just for better liability protection?

What changes in documentation should we do?

Any particular administrative practice changes? In terms of involuntary commitment practice changes? Family communication changes? Etc

Medication prescribing habit changes?

I’m curious to what everyone’s thoughts are and what we can potentially use from this trial to improve on our own practices.

Public sentiment of the case

Looking through different online forums and YouTube channels, it seems that the general public sentiment and social media seem to be overwhelmingly supportive of Lindsay and supports the psychosis/insanity plea. The sentiment seems to be overwhelming in considering the prosecution as not doing a good job and in not being convincing.

I just find this general sentiment pretty interesting.

Any good restaurant management games without gacha?

I have been wanting to find a good restaurant or even a city or company management game. I was hoping that it can be on the cute side and more relaxing to play instead of stressful. Is there any kind of these games that are not gacha or need to pay further for in-game purchases? Thanks!

Overheard two nurses having a completely normal conversation and genuinely could not believe it

I was just minding my own business and walking down the hall one day and saw two really pretty nurses talking to each other. I am shy though so I didn’t want to approach and also because they intimidate me. But as I walked past I heard them talking about the dates they were on this past weekend and how they were comparing the dinner locations they went, the looks of their dates, and how good (and disappointed one of their) nights were. Then they talked about their hook-up apps before making some suggestive looks at me.

I genuinely couldn’t believe it. Just yesterday they were in a life and death situation and was yelling at me on whether the diabetic diet I placed was correct or not and whether that might have killed my patient, and today they were acting like completely normal human beings and treating me like a completely normal human being.

I was under the impression that their sole existence is to test the professionalism module of ours in med school and to provide the worst case scenario hypothesis for every single one of our decision making processes.

This is a good reminder for us that nurses are just normal human beings like every single one of us.

Updated study regarding cannabis and its potential effects as a treatment, the interpretation states:

“Given the scarcity of evidence, the routine use of cannabinoids for the treatment of mental disorders and SUDs is currently rarely justified.” This is a good evidence based update regarding this treatment/substance use consideration.
